... its not -quite- in the title performance of the thread but maybe it applies to the view count thing.
It looks like you keep getting a steady views on the one below daily and that flow is creeping upward in September for a march performance.I'm not sure I saw this one before (I don't know if that is even possible on YouTube but do you ever tinker with a given video after it is initially posted?)
You did a beautiful job with the video imagery and I really feel like I can hear the full sound with all the vibrations and harmonics I personally find so important to my enjoyment. (in her voice, in the guitar, and ...
I found I really enjoyed Keith's piano playing too ... I wonder if sometimes I didn't get to hear the crispness of his attack I can hear in this one... Perhaps some of the into the red spikes a person can see when playing with an equalizer stayed in here where those spikes got washed out with different software(or microphone)? When he strikes a note crisp attack that might cause a spike up to the red zone before the note settles distinguishes a super musician to one without feeling(for my taste at least)
Anyway point is I loved this one of yours and hadn't seen it in this form(I don't think) and I'm happy to see that maybe there is a current of new interest in H building.
Answering in the proper thread:
Actually, I was itching to put these performances out for some time, but it is a private event and other considerations that meant I had to wait to be able to post some of them.
When Haley announced raising money for #SMYM and I wanted to help Haley raise money how I could, I thought it would be the right time and long enough away from the show, to be able to at least post the music.
At the time, this was the first time she performed "Dream a Little Dream of Me", 'publicly' so I thought it was a beautiful performance and would be a great choice to release, a 'new' cover, even if she ended up singing it at the Chicago Theater later that year, the 'first time' everybody else had heard her cover this song.
In actuality, my first choice of song to release was "Don't Know Why", my favorite performance that night, but Canon cameras, for some reason, have this default that turns the camera off after about 30 min. As I was enjoying the song, I didn't notice my camera had turned off. Afterwards, I was notified that the other camera turned off by someone watching it. So I'd completely lost the entire second half of the song!!!!
I didn't realise the other camera, which was turned back on, ended up capturing the second half of the song (phew

), until I was able to review the videos from both cameras. But, at the time of putting a video out for #SMYM fund raiser, I would have to stitch the video together. The difference in the audio was significant (at least noticeable), the other challenge, getting the different audios edited together so the switch from one audio to the other was not noticeable. I wasn't ready or experienced enough with my software to tackle that repair job, so I opted to post my second choice, "Dream a Little Dream.."
Back to "Dream a Little Dream of Me"...
So the way I was able to convince at least the release of the audio is I could make a video for it and not use the actual video of the performance, just the audio. Once I got the OK, I decided that I wanted to use images that had not been used before, make it as 'new' as I could. I also decided to use some animation so that it wasn't so much a 'slideshow' as my other videos had been. I looked up youtube to find 'royalty/copyright free video' and found the perfect one that introduces the video (with a little change here and there to the color, slowed it down a bit). For 'new' images, I scoured Youtube for HD videos of Haley I could video cap (High Definition being most important to get the best result from photoshopping). So technically, the images were not 'new', but with a little photoshopping and stylizing the images a bit, they would look 'new'.
I'd also been receiving some amazing photos from part time Haley photographer Halien, Greg Williams. He'd sent me some great pics of Chicago he'd taken earlier in the year. I photoshopped those too, to match the mood and look of the other resources for the vid.
As far as the audio goes, the source was excellent. Although their AV guy had little to be desired, the equipment was very good, and despite last minute issues, came out beautifully... We had two cameras, as you saw in the 'Don't know Why' vid, One of the Camera's audio was just a little better, clearer than the other. It was a better camera, but the better audio could also have been due to it's location, right in front of the stage, about 15ft away. I 'sweetened' it just a little with the audio settings in my video editing program
I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how much more this vid is viewed than the other vids from my "Raising money for #SMYM vids" It has 17.5k views while next most viewed is "Don't Know Why" - combined 2 vids, with 8.7K. In fact, it's become my 5th most viewed video all time on my channel (behind Sail, Stageit HTRJ, AI Moanin' and Stageit My Cake) Miguel will probably say, again, that the increased view count is probably due to it being a 'cover' so is helped by people looking up a popular song (Like with Sail's view numbers)
I'd like to think part of DALDOM view count is also to do with the quality of the performance, the quality of Haley's voice and the musicianship in Keith's piano playing. It is still taking in a good amount of views per month (2059/month), I'd like to think it's Haliens returning to hear a wonderful performance.
BTW, it's almost a year since Haley performed these songs at the private event, to mark the day, I'm thinking of posting the 'live' video of this performance
