I love the fact that Haley is touring for a couple weeks with PMJ. She talked about American Idol being a boot camp of sorts, and grew a lot on the show. I think this is a bit of a boot camp, in a similar way although the scene is quite different. It is intense, fast paced, and full of new experiences. While she did the big tour with AI, she hasn't done this kind of thing before: small venues, lower budget operation, and overseas(no, I'm not counting the high school trip). A dozen shows is enough to give her a good taste of things, with the opportunity to grow and learn.

The show looks like it is getting quite polished and Scott seems like an excellent manager of the road show. She'll get to spend time with some skilled vocalists and musicians, many of whom have being struggling along for years. Most have been part of the New York music scene. At least two have been in Broadway as well as off-Broadway musicals. A bit different than hanging at the Whole Earth Festival with David Block, I imagine.

I hope she develops a good relationship with Morgan. Looking at pictures and videos of Morgan has reminded me of Haley in certain ways. She has done jazz. She has a presence. She's worn the fur coat and let it fall off her shoulder. She does several changes of dress in the PMJ shows, and one dress she wears has that leopard pattern. Morgan has lived and worked in NYC for a number of years, in a competitive and rather cutthroat business. She is almost ten years older that Haley, has been around the block and may feel her time is due. But she also knows what it is like to be part of an ensemble and seems to be a good natured soul. But then there is the diva thing. But I think things will be fine. And Casey has switched from melodica to kazoo, with a less passionate hand off from Morgan. LOL.

More great pictures, XAtlantic! That little camera of yours take some great pics (although I don't think the "Twitter resolution" ones do justice to the Haley pictures).

The primary culprit is the blazing red stage light. If you look at the pics of the other performers, the Twitter upload, doesn't seem to have as much of an impact. Pics of Haley without the red light look better, but they are blurry from motion

That was a reason I posted that one of them all together in black and white. The red light made it hard to see all of Haley's facial features until I desaturated it, and you could see all of their faces


Look at the pic above of the red crowd scene, the resolution is low on the people covered in red. Then look at the disco ball above them, with white light on it. You can see better resolution on the ball than the crowd, and that pic wasn't uploaded to Twitter

I reduced the Twitter pic to 1000 pixels across for uniformity also because I'm not a fan of uploading the original photos for public consumption. The above pic is at it's original resolution, 1166 pixels wide, after I cropped it to just Haley)

All of the pics I uploaded to my photobucket were all reduced to 1200 pixels across mostly so they don't overwhelm the forum's posting space by stretching it too much

You express exactly what I'm thinking, too, John! The Idol tour had a professional apparatus behind it, and while this is very professional, too, it is more self-organized and self-managed, smaller and much more an artist's thing. And yes, so many great people around her with all their experiences. It struck me, for example, that the other musicians besides Scott are not young guys, they are men with a history, and so even that surely puts an extra flavor into the group.

You are also absolutely right in my opinion to point out Morgan again. She is a lot more than LA, if you know what I mean. I think I used the word diva for her but that is really not the right word at all. She seems not just a very warm person off stage but when on stage she goes some place, she's in the song. Of course with her Broadway experience she also knows how to be what the crowds like, but you can tell she really wants and needs to do what she's doing, she's living it from deep within her, that is more than just performing. it's her life and part of her all. So it is not a diva thing, it is her personality, her story. I am not sure if she and Haley can connect, Haley seems to be much more playful, but if they did I completely agree it could be a powerhouse meeting with huge intensity. I am sure it would be about music way different from the PMJ line.

I was referring to resolution lost in the compression process. The lastest Haley picture shows up as 36.8KB on my computer, for example, while the reddish audience picture is 455KB.

There's definitely compression that happens when you upload using Twitter. I've switched to that to post pics instead of Photobucket because Photobucket has a storage limit, which means sometimes, the images 'disappear' if you somehow exceed that limit.

It happened to me when I used to make signatures/banners for people over at IDF. I uploaded them to my photobucket, but then some people's activities online started using up alot of my allocated memory/space in Photobucket which meant all of the signatures I made for people disappeared because I'd passed the limit. They eventually came back once the usage lowered back to my storage limit

I post alot of images, if I used Photobucket to post them, I would've exceeded my storage allocation a long time ago (or had to pay for more storage) Twitter upload was a better option for permanence and efficiency (as well as not having to pay for more space if you exceed your limit)

(also I hate the ads and a feeling that adware was being loaded onto my computer by Photobucket... sometimes, when I use Photobucket, an unsolicited window/ad will pop up )

Edit: Photobucket compresses the pictures too. The above 'original' resolution red pic, I uploaded a 1.26MB file to Photobucket. The image that's posted above, from Photobucket, says it's only 100kb

Comparing the two side by side, there's a fair amount of resolution/depth reduction from the file I uploaded to the file Photobucket displays

This inspired me to check out Morgan James on itunes. I liked it so much i bought her whole album and it gives me even more reason to go to at least the Milwaukee PMJ concert. Sure would be great if Haley, Casey & Morgan all were there. No confirmation on any of it yet that i've seen.
