There may be no grand strategy. From an interview with AC (Atlantic City) Mike,

Quote: AC Mike: So what brings you to the sixties now, family?

Haley: Family. Completely family. My folks have been in a group for like 40 years, or more. Basically, this is their repertoire.

Unlike Better, a reward of sorts for CHFIL, Haley's got a partner with Concord. It's unlikely Concord would go into this without some kind of strategy, sales, promotion, art work, who to promote through etc....

I don't think Concord would sign someone with a "whatever" strategy Tongue

It seems like the strategy behind this album is to hopefully introduce Haley, her musical inspirations, and her spirit to the public. I believe Joss Stone's label did something similar. (A lot of her early work is covers of the soul music she is influenced by.)

I'm interested in seeing what kind of promo the album is going to get. Whether there will be a radio tour or an attempt by the label to push the song on radio (Does Concord even do that?) or whether Ole will take the lead role and try and sell Haley's covers to ads and movies.

The release of "For What It's Worth," as I said..likely the last single before the album drops, is an interesting choice. Haley did not shy away from comparing the theme of the 60s and song, to issues today. Is that what she's going for? She already has the song "Listen." Is Haley looking to have a voice in social issues like so many of the artists that she idolizes did? (I would imagine the answer is clearly "yes.") If so, what does being an "activist/advocate" musician mean for her and her choices.

I'm intrigued and excited to find out.

One of my favorite artists, Mary Lambert, burst onto the national media scene when she sang the hook for Macklemore's "Same Love." The song became a huge voice..and came at at turning point in our country, for gay rights. It appeared to encourage the national consensus on "Gay Marriage."

Socially conscious times call for socially conscious music. I wonder if Haley's reimagined version of "For What It's Worth" may become that voice. Particularly when so many of our leaders are encouraging political activism.

If you listen around 1:50 when Haley sings "paranoia strikes deep" you can hear a second voice whispering the lyrics....perhaps to accent the "paranoia" part of the song?

I think Haley's already shown how she expresses her 'activism', her support of BLM & the LGBQT community (as are many of the PMJers like Ariana and Morgan), she hinted about 'feeling the Bern" at the LA show, without outright promoting Sanders, BUT I don't think she's really interested in MAKING A STATEMENT. It seems she puts her point across in more subtle ways, through the songs she sings and writes, a post here and there. She doesn't appear to be interested in engagement and chaotic discourse. She just puts out what she think, most of the time in subtle ways, and let it stand on it's own....

the last time someone challenged her on one of her posts that expressed an opinion on a topic that was controversial

Quote:haleyreinhart
@danesiz1 This is by no means political... This is for all humanity's sake. And even if I wanted to post about political positions or what have you... That is my prerogative. I appreciate your support and I hope someday you'll join us... And the world will live as one.

I think this fully illustrates Haley's take on this type of topic. I don't believe Haley wants to be an 'activist', but that doesn't mean she will stop supporting what she thinks is right. She will post her opinion, allows for other opinions, but feels no need to engage in something that is 100% subjective, so there's no point in arguing...

I think Haley represents her thoughts about what is good for all humanity, for everyone to get along, but probably thinks she has better ways to support her stance than to be an 'activist' aka engaging with opposite philosophies....

IMO totally keeps in character with the person I've learned, over the years, Haley to be Tongue

I was wondering.....when I got the email hours ago, it said "New Instant Download" but all I could see was a 'play' button, but the music didn't play from my iTunes, nor was the track available on my iTunes library. That was on my phone.

Now I'm on my laptop and the 'Download' button is available for download, separate from iTunes
