American Idol 2013 - Tusk - 01-29-2013
So far it seems the talent is better than last year as a whole
Won't really know about the judges until we get to live shows
Here are the first two Idologys

I agree that we won't know about the judges until the live shows. Initially, J-Lo and Steven seemed terrific but once the live shows began, well... We know that Steven was a fan of Haley's, but he rarely articulated it well .... and ... well, I'll leave it at that.
I'm sure this sounds petty but Nicki Minaj's voice is extremely annoying to me, so while there have been a few things that she's said that portray a glimmer of hope (which may have been only a result of good editing), I would need to see a consistent stream of the above mentioned "glimmer of hope" before I'll feel a bit more confident about the judges. (Although I think Keith has a great deal to offer -- perhaps that will come out more during the live shows.)
I hope Candice makes a good run -- that there seemed to be no reason when she was cut last year always made me suspicious.
It could be a fun and an interesting AI year.

The girls are stronger than the guys, like last season, (save Joshua) but there is precious little stylistic variety in this group - mostly country and diva/crooner R&B. The genre I like (rock) is not represented which means I'll probably lose interest and tune out eventually, like last season. I'm loving Nicki and Keith so far, not impressed with Mariah, Randy is Randy.

^ No one does a better job of ripping Randy Jacka$$ than Idology's Michael Slezak and Melinda Doolittle. As Haliens we love the Randy shots and the Haley love Michael dishes out.
I see where Randy describes himself as the "super glue" of American Idol in this article:

Instead of super glue, more like a bad shoe...

The only judge I like this year is Keith. The girls are way too annoying and dramatic.....and I'm tired of seeing Randy there for so long. At least Keith has a cool accent and he's nice

Super glue should come with the warning: DANGEROUS IF USED INCORRECTLY!!

Classic Slezak on his recap of Idol's Wednesday night show:
http://tvline.com/2013/01/30/american-idol-recap-season-12-san-antonio-long-beach-auditions/
Quote:American Idol doesn’t get everything right all the time, but let’s give the lumbering old beast a round of applause — or as J.Lo likes to call it, a standing ovation — for trimming back the Season 12 auditions to a succinct, three-week affair.
If I’m being completely honest, the sometimes uninspiring Golden Ticket recipients from tonight’s two-city, two-hour extravaganza had me wondering if maybe Nigel Lythgoe & Co. should’ve considered additional cuts. But ultimately, the episode was not without its charms: “The great Randy Jackson” ridiculing Shubha Vedula’s name in front of a national TV audience (how dare she not change it to something Dawg-friendly like Mary Smith…I kid, I kid…Mary has two syllables!); skipper Mariah Carey’s breasts frantically scrambling from her dress (negligee?) in search of one of the Queen Mary’s life boats (srsly, girlfriend gives The Voice‘s Christina Aguilera a run for her cleavage); and Keith Urban nailing understated punch line after punch line after punch line. (Dude is giving The Voice‘s Blake Shelton a run for his funny!)
Carey us to the lifeboat...
"The great Randy Jackson"...Slezak still finding creative ways to kick the dawg for his treatment of Haley (Earth Song)...
RE: American Idol 2013 - Himm2 - 01-31-2013
I thought I'd appreciate Mariah Carey more as a judge but after displaying her bulging pectoral expansion rather classlessly I realize that I can have slightly more respect for her competing exposed Diva Christina Aguilera. I thought I'd hate Nikki Minaj but she is an artistic creation with interesting comments and adds something to the show that was never there before. The further Randy gets away from his simon cowell influence the more compassionate and subDUDE he gets. Keith is starting to show some judging qualities instead of just being a pretty face but he doesn't have quite the interesting whackiness that Steven Tyler had.

This season's HALEY (thats her name):
![[Image: HaleyOscar_zps38e137e2.jpg]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w61/Himm2/Idol/HaleyOscar_zps38e137e2.jpg)
and she has an "Oscar". Hoping someday our Haley gets an Oscar...much like Jennifer Hudson.
and this is as close as Steven Tyler will get to looking like Haley Reinhart:
