Do you think it'll be an original or a cover? Unlike a lot of labels, I don't think Concord is hesitant to release a cover. Much has been made of "For What It's Worth" seemingly being a fit for the times, but I wouldn't release it first. It would be seen as a cynical attempt to cash in on that. No, better to go with something else and let that song be "discovered."
I vote for "Baby It's You."It's a proven song that charted three times in the 1960s (the Smiths version out-charted earlier versions by The Shirelles' and The Beatles). Like most pop music, it's a relationship song.
It's a song Haley's comfortable with. Himm just posted her Idol performance of it alongside the Paris performance Tusk posted earlier. She clearly enjoys performing it and the backing of the band is on point.

I think Haley has telegraphed the first single from the beginning #WhatsThatSound...especially that the song has become "relevant" again during these tumultuous times in the world...it could catch on in the media too, as an updated iconic song from the 60's

I have been wondering the same - but not just what song - I wonder WHERE it fits on the airwaves, assuming HR3 gets SOME radio play. I really, really like the sound, vibe and message of FWW which I feel belongs on alternative radio (my preference) but it seems a long shot that alternative radio will go there given her past success with CHFIL on Adult Contemporary.
Regardless of where, I hope some stations will give HR3 exposure, but we know that without a major label or commercial to support her, it seems unlikely. (Another factor that may help HR3 is FIFF season 2 which seems to be a hit. In a recent interview on Howard Stern, Bill Burr mentioned the cast, including Haley, which can only help.)

My .02. If the CD is called "What's That Sound", then during this politically charged time, "For What Its Worth" makes sense as the good choice for a single.
I am still puzzled though. She did not introduce any new songs on her EU tour. So is the CD going to be all covers? I would think she would have test drove a few new songs. But maybe, like several songs on the "Better" CD, she will just introduce them brand new to the public, like "Behave", "You Belong To Me" and several others.
But, in my opinion, what is needed to launch a single these days is major label support. The song needs promotion, CD singles sent to radio stations, marketing, and some live performances on some national platforms. If Haley is signed with Concord, that might be a possibility.
But it is more likely that maybe her songs off the CD are placed into movie or TV soundtracks or advertising, like CHFIL.
But, who knows in this day and age what will stick and what won't? Maybe "For What It's Worth" will hit big? Whatever happens, as always, I am just along for the Halien Ride....

Also I've been wondering what the smokey features in the right foreground are - not smoke, or is it? An alien materializing? A reflection that some clever digital analyst will decompose one day anouncing the dates of her upcoming US tour?
How does she do that - that almost all of her photos are perfect?

In that picture, I am not sure what is coming, or who she is staring at, but I LOVE this gauzy image of her and her gaze. Can't wait for the new single.....!
I picked "For What It's Worth" for the first single, but you can't beat this classic song, and she can belt it out like few others...

Looks like there may be multiple singles since she said "the first single", maybe "For What It's Worth" will be the second one. I guess its to early start a thread about that jet
.It will be interesting to see if we can associate a label to "Baby It's You" once it drops on Friday. No information on I-Tunes jet.
