I want to extend my deep thanks to Tusk and airhigh for doing a great job of coordinating the video transfer.
Tusk, thanks so much, your video editing is amazing especially on All About That Bass and the difficulties it presented. I appreciate and love the direction you went with the video. I complimented you before about how adept you’ve become at it, but this time you took a not so great a recording environment and made lovely videos. I don’t know any other Halien that can do that, at least so willing to do it. That is why we wanted to provide our recordings to you because we knew you would make them the best possible videos they could ever be.
We know you are in this for Haley and to help promote her and it’s not about yourself. That is why you take the time and effort to put out such a beautiful product, whether it is pictures, art or videos of Haley and share them with us and recognition just inherently comes with it. That is why you are so helpful to other Haliens who want to meet Haley, get a shout out from her or just to update us on what is going on in the Haley news world without compromising any trust. You’ve always had the “We are a Team” concept especially when giving credit. I don’t post much and at times I feel just the opposite that I don’t contribute enough to this site by getting information to share with other Haliens.
P.S. I will take your constructive advice.

A concept borne out of necessity that ended up working out

I must admit, AATB was particularly challenging. Unlike "Habits" where I had two angles of the same performance, there was only one version of each performance of AATB, ISCAT's from the 1st night and airhigh's from the 2nd night.
So my options were to show just one video only from one angle, no opportunity to edit out shakes, blurs and blocked views, OR I can attempt to marry the two different performances together so I can hope to edit out the parts of the video that detracted from the performance
When you are trying to edit two different sources, two different angles, one of the challenges is to be able to make the illusion that everything is synced up, especially the subject's mouth to the audio. Even if the syncing is a micro second off you will notice it and the illusion is destroyed and it affects the viewing experience. That is challenging enough when you are using two sources from one performance.
What I attempted to do w/ AATB was to sync the lips/action from two entirely different performances.
What made it more of a challenge is Haley doesn't perform the same way twice, so syncing her video with audio from a different performance was probably a foolhardy thing to take on. I dug in my heels and amazingly it ended up working... I think is partly due to PMJ following a musical 'script' moreso than Haley (like during the bass breakdown/solo) so there was sort of a template that was similar enough to work from
There were points in the process I thought maybe I should give up and just chose one vid of the two and post it as is. But each video of each performances had it's 'bright spots'. If I posted one, I wouldn't be able to post the other. But amazingly, it ended up working out better than I thought I could accomplish

I think you underestimated your camera, the 1st night's video w/ Haley in the Silver dress came out really well.
The one thing that came to mind is that you should be aware of the obstacles between you and your subject. There were times I needed to be able to use some of your video, but Haley's face was obstructed by two maybe three mic stands so I couldn't use it.
I did appreciate the angle you shot from because it gave me opportunity to show PMJ and Scott, where as there wasn't much opportunity in airhigh's video. I felt Scott and PMJ are as much of this performance as Haley, so needed to be included in the video IMO.
You guys appeared to shoot from a 90 degree angle from each other, but IMO a better set up to shoot from might be more at a smaller angle, perhaps positioning yourself in a 10 and 2 position or 12 and 2 position(As seen on a clock).... That way you have a view sort of from the side, while having better opportunity for different angles of the subject as they move. ISCAT where you shot from, 90 degrees from airhigh, meant most of your shot's were profile shots, so a little limiting...not to mention that created a situation where the mic stands created a 'forest' of stands in front of Haley as she walked behind them....
Just something to think about next time you do some video of a performance
Finally, ISCAT Thank you very much for your extremely kind words and reminding me why I do this. 3+ years ago, I couldn't have imagined that turning on my TV to watch American Idol could lead to where I am today, in my wildest dreams I could've never imagined all the trips and experiences I've had, for which I am very grateful. It's also alot to take in, I'm not even sure how I got here or where it goes from here...
I'm not too comfortable w/ the spotlight, but as you said, the more I do, the more I'm noticed, so one can't exist without the other, so I'll have to adjust and deal with it or get out :/
That's why I appreciate your words reminding me that, there are those who I don't hear from, who I might never meet, who do get why I'm doing this, Really, thank you

Thanks again to airhigh and ISCAT for capturing the video, a great job on with the editing, Tusk! Tusk, if anybody is capable of getting those microsecond syncs within necessary specs it is you, and I'm glad to see you took on the challenge.

Haley's version is totally different than the one Kate Davis did, and I appreciate both of them. Haley does a great job with it and AABT is the kind of song that can energize an audience. Given the fact that Kate's unique rendition of the song went viral, some singers might be reluctant to perform it with the PMJ. But Haley dives right in, and I doubt the audience gives it a second thought once she gets started.

Did you mean the part where everyone's together and Shoshana is singing? I'm not sure, but I think the video might be too shaky to use. I'll take another look at it. There's one performance left to post, HOTRS. I haven't had a chance to really look at those clips so have no game plan as of yet. If it's possible, and works within the context of HOTRS, I might put the usable parts you suggest at the end of that video.
I also want to thank you for your patience in persevering to learn how to use Drop Box, and your patience and diligence in getting those files to me. Transferring files that large using an unfamiliar process can be frustrating, I appreciate your efforts in succeeding in getting them to me

I think this fan echoes your thought on the trepidation of following Kate's widely liked cover of the song, But it looks like she was relieved to be wrong about Haley's ability to Dive into and take the song on

I was referring to the final stage call where they each stepped forward a did a short number Adriana whistled, Blake beat boxed. Sorry about the shakes it was the first time for me filming with a camera. I think I was getting a little better by the second night. The fans really needed midnight, yanni, Rachel or you, hopefully better amateur than nothing. It looks like Haley is starting to get out and about. If Haley does Berlin I would love to see the crowd reaction if Xatlantic can make it and film it. It was a pleasure filming her for her fans & Scott was all up for it, good people.
