Given the seriousness of the incident, I'm guessing that much of investigation was conducted by detectives in the days after. There were a lot of people in the video, perhaps a lot of the initial investigate involved getting names and contact information for follow up. Haley was arrested perhaps because the Lamplighter, who likely initiated the police response, wanted her charged.

I read that wrong. Because of the paragraph's opening sentence, I thought it was the police explaining what they did the night of Haley's arrest. That they were called out for unwanted subjects, but then investigated the allegation of Haley assaulting someone.

I think Haley could have avoided court by hiring a local lawyer (since it's a misdemeanor). Wonder if her appearance is an indication she intends to contest the charges. If so, I hope she has representation. This would have been a good time for her to wear sunglasses.
