RE: June 17th Laguna Beach Live!’s Jazz Wednesdays - Tusk - 07-29-2015 Welp, it happened, "At Last" has doubled the views of the 2nd most viewed song of the set, "You Know I'm No Good".... you just never can tell which video will do well, at least "Creep" O2 had the timing of being posted before PMJ released the official song... just so weird why this video of this song is doing so well ![]() In other news, I just found out I might be able to get my hands on the inline audio from this show ![]() RE: June 17th Laguna Beach Live!’s Jazz Wednesdays - Tusk - 07-31-2015 Quote:Tusk @HaleysTusk 8s8 seconds ago ![]() RE: June 17th Laguna Beach Live!’s Jazz Wednesdays - mercfan3 - 07-31-2015 Funny enough, it was a Haley video I reposted on my tumblr, and it has the most notes of any Haley video I've posted (Including PMJ's "Creep") I think "At Last" is simply the type of song that gains views. RE: June 17th Laguna Beach Live!’s Jazz Wednesdays - Tusk - 07-31-2015 It's some other reason because I have at least another 4 performances of At Last on my channel...notice the jump in views on the graph was the same date OIDIA PMJ video debuted RE: June 17th Laguna Beach Live!’s Jazz Wednesdays - Miguel - 07-31-2015 As I noted on the 19th, it's appearing in the sidebar of other Haley videos. RE: June 17th Laguna Beach Live!’s Jazz Wednesdays - Tusk - 07-31-2015 As do other Haley videos, they aren't pulling in the numbers this one is RE: June 17th Laguna Beach Live!’s Jazz Wednesdays - NUG - 08-01-2015 It's an incredible performance, on page 1 of youtube when I type in Haley Reinhart. Her jazz side is getting extra attention right now. Also, the other recordings you did, while special to us because we were waiting forever to hear this song from Haley, are not as clear visually, and IMO this is an extraordinary performance in comparison with the rest of her At Last performances. The sax solo, the beautiful atmosphere, her dancing, the audience appreciation added with Haley..it's sublime. You seem a bit unimpressed with it, Tusk, and possibly (if I'm reading it right) like you have some secret opinion on why it's so popoular. If so, spill it. ![]() RE: June 17th Laguna Beach Live!’s Jazz Wednesdays - Tusk - 08-01-2015 (08-01-2015, 12:01 AM)NUG Wrote: You seem a bit unimpressed with it, Tusk, and possibly (if I'm reading it right) like you have some secret opinion on why it's so popoular. If so, spill it. Not at all, I'm actually Very impressed with it. I especially love the tone of the sax as well. When I was videoing that day, I thought FOR SURE Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good" was the prize of the lot....I mean how long have we been hoping Haley covers an Amy Winehouse song? (I'm still hoping for a full band performance of "Rehab" ![]() ![]() The first few weeks, AL an YKING were pacing each other, within 1k...then all of a sudden, BOOM PMJ's OIDIA debuts, and that sling shots AL Waaaaaay past YKING ![]() ![]() Something about the audience who might have researched Haley via OIDIA were drawn to At Last over YKING.... Add to that, it's not even a 'new' song, makes it even weirder. I'm starting to think that the majority of my subscribers are from PMJ whose influence have caused the 'view pattern' to have changed... How else do you explain, Dream a Little Dream of Me, Cry me a River and Sittin on the Dock of the bay, pulling in significantly more views than the rest of the vids? It's the #VintageEffect ![]() ![]() ![]() FYI, the bottom half of the top 10 viewed videos on my channel for the month is also interesting ![]() 6. Morgan James "Sweet Child of Mine" 8K 7. Creep O2 7.7K 8. Caley Room 55 "Never Knew What Love Could Do" 7.2K 9. Haley, Morgan, Ariana "Burn" Zurich 5.9K 10.Haley Chicago, Imagine 5.4K ![]() Morgan's been sitting at 5/6 for a few months and no Sail ![]() RE: June 17th Laguna Beach Live!’s Jazz Wednesdays - Miguel - 08-01-2015 (07-31-2015, 09:58 PM)Tusk Wrote: As do other Haley videos, they aren't pulling in the numbers this one is Yes, there are other videos of Haley that are listed. But it's the only video that I can tell you is consistently being presented and that's because it stands out with its green background and short, familiar title. People searching for the song title or watching other performances of the song are also likely to click on it for the same reason. And once it proved popular, YT/Google probably began suggesting it more. The sax solo, the beautiful atmosphere, her dancing, the audience appreciation added with Haley..it's sublime. I think the sax sells the song, although I'm sure others factors figure in to the view count. The saxophone work was really well done. What impresses me the most is the fluid interplay between the sax and Haley's singing, which makes the song. In a number of the videos of Haley where there are solos, that fluidity is not there. Sometimes it feels like, er, paint by numbers -- plug in solo here. Consider Jacob's solo in GBAIGTY at the Troubadour. It was stop, Casey's done, now you're up. It felt appended to the song, not a part of it. Overall, I am quite impressed with the musicianship of the No Vacancy Orchestra. Haley had never sang with them, and they had never accompanied her, but they got it done. I think the quality of the musicians in that band, along with Scott PMJ arrangements and the quality of the PMJ musicians show what good musical accompaniment can do for Haley. |
