Candice and Kree arne't exactly marketable (so I can't see TPTB wanting them to win) and Angela is from Massachusetts. Aka...she won't win. I think because it's generally believed that you have the best chance of winning AI if you come from the south or areas nearby because of the voting block that comes from there. Lee Dewyze, from Illinois, was the exception to the rule. The majority of winners come from southern states. Kelly Clarkson-Burleson, Texas Ruben Studdard-Birmingham, Alabama Fantasia Barrino-High Point, North Carolina Carrie Underwood-Checotah, Oklahoma Taylor Hicks-Birmingham, Alabama Jordin Sparks-Glendale, Arizona David Cook-Blue Springs, Missouri Kris Allen-Conway, Arkansas Lee DeWyze-Mount Prospect, Illinois Scotty McCreery-Garner, North Carolina Phillip Phillips-Leesburg, Georgia RE: American Idol 2013 - mercfan3 - 03-06-2013 Right Tusk, this is a "Red State" contest. For me, Candice and Kree are amazing singers (Candice, IMO..stands above the rest. Her voice is just flawless..and still manages to have soul.) And they'll likely keep me entertained, but they can't possibly be who Idol wants to win. Like I said, who Idol wanted to win, I think was Janelle. They even gave her a second chance last week. She's just not ready. RE: American Idol 2013 - My Alter Ego - 03-06-2013 (03-06-2013, 12:50 PM)Haleylvr4evr Wrote: Why does where someone lives, determine if they can or not? And while I didn't care for the songs that Kree sang this week and last week ("Up to the Mountain" does absolutely nothing for me, even when performed as perfectly and flawlessly as Crystal did a few years back), I can appreciate that voice of hers and what she does with it. She's a "wow" too. What's happened with Janell is a surprise to me. I'm reasonably certain that she pretty much "stole the show" in her Vegas group number last year and I and a few others on the TVLine comments section were fairly stunned when she was cut at the end of the Vegas rounds. Now I see that the judges knew what they were doing (did I just say that????) when they did so. So, back to Candice -- you're right. She was nothing short of flawless last night! I hope she has a long run. She doesn't need to win -- she just needs to get to 2nd or 3rd finish and she could carve out a nice little career like Melinda Doolittle seems to have done. RE: American Idol 2013 - kaypea - 03-06-2013 I thought that Candice sounded more -I guess the word is mature-last night. She sounded more relaxed and confident than what I had remembered from before.Other than her though I can't get behind anyone.Kree is talented but I just don't care for her tone.I didn't even watch the guys tonight.I really hope that a girl wins this year though. RE: American Idol 2013 - Himm2 - 03-07-2013 ![]() RE: American Idol 2013 - My Alter Ego - 03-07-2013 ^^(Sigh) Surprise, surprise. VFTW is less caring than AI producers seem to be, and that's saying something. Charlie's about to, if he hasn't already, lose it. What happened to him last night didn't have to happen, and it's just a shame. Fortunately Ryan was on top of his game, recognized the situation, and was empathetic. RE: American Idol 2013 - Tusk - 03-07-2013 Didn't even make it as far watching the guys as I did the girls. Honestly, I didn't think Charlie's performance was THAT bad. I thought Zoanette's was much worse. What was disconcerting to me was Charlie's 'ensemblay' (as Mariah might put it ![]() ![]() in this THR article about the guys, Charlie sounded like he knew what to expect and talked with more confidence about it than what showed after last night's performance. After I watched a full season and had a feel for how the show was run, I decided to come back this year with a vengeance....I’m much more self-aware this year and have a much greater sense of who I am and what kind of artist I want to be Incidently, I came across this old interview of S10's gals after Motown Week....made me ache for the 'likeability' and talent of that season even more... With 5 or 6 exceptions the guys and girls performed as if they were trying out for a Broadway play. All good singers but boring for me. When 10 are gone I hope it gets better.
