Awesome yes, although I don't like the fact that the bonus tracks are an "Target exclusive." That would make 16 songs -- reasonable since some are quite short. RE: "What's That Sound" - tracks, cover art and release date - rmd1064 - 09-10-2017 So, this Target Extended Edition caught me by surprise. I mean CDs are kind of dead in a way and many stores are cutting their CD shelving to almost zero. But here is Haley and Target coming up with a new extended Edition. I have to think that Target is going to push this with signage and maybe other promo efforts. I am hoping that Concord steps on the gas soon with some Haley appearances on national TV. Wouldn't it be great if she could get get on some national shows in the next few weeks to promote the release? Ellen, Colbert, Leno, Kimmel-- something! Also, fingers crosssed that the new single is "These Boots Are Made for Walkin"...not too crazy about the drug centric song "White Rabbit" as a Haley single...just my .02....oh well...here we go...12 days to go! They offer an exclusive version of Adele's "25," Taylor Swift's "198p," Ariana Grande's "Dangerous Woman," etc. Those all have bonus tracks. As does Demi Lovato's new ablum available for preorder. Target's offering for Harry Styles says it has "32 pages of exclusive images from the making of the album. Their Lana Del Rey offering has a "Target Exclusive Poster." For Swift's latest album, "Reputation," two 72-page magazines (Volume 1 and Volume 2) are exclusively available at Target. They include Swift’s poetry, photos, artwork and handwritten lyrics. https://www.target.com/s/cds+exclusive So I don't know that I would expect any special signage for "What's That Sound?" Still, it's great Haley made the cut. I would assume such an offering would require a commitment on Target's part to purchase a minimum amount. RE: "What's That Sound" - tracks, cover art and release date - Miguel - 09-11-2017 Target is spending an average of $7.5M per store in a major remodeling effort. Quote:Electronics has been moved from the front of of some stores to the back where there's plenty of wall space for TVs. It's next to an entertainment section with a video wall playing the latest stocked music CDs. Stores are bringing music back with a new system that will play different songs throughout the store.DMN RE: "What's That Sound" - tracks, cover art and release date - KelseyW. - 09-11-2017 I'm so excited that Haley is getting her first Target exclusive album! Now I know it's just two bonus tracks, but still! A very awesome thing for someone who finished 3rd on Idol 6 years ago and who is now on a smaller label. ![]() I honestly never would've thought she would get another major store exclusive album/or bonus tracks with this era. It was wonderful with Walmart and Listen Up! but somehow Target is even better. I wonder if she will get her album advertised in the weekly Target ads, or even sweeter would be a Target commercial! The second probably won't happen, but you never know! ![]() RE: "What's That Sound" - tracks, cover art and release date - popfly38 - 09-11-2017 I thought maybe we'd see this type of exclusive arrangement with Walmart with one of the bonus tracks being "Time of My Life". We know she did a recording of it and it seems like a very logical arrangement. Who knows how these deals get made. I'm sure logic, as seen from the outside, plays a very small part. Also as I recall, Walmart didn't do much additional marketing with the "Listen Up" exclusive. I would like to hear the full version of TOML soon though. I understand the concern but one of the 'important' things about the 60's, in addition to the war, protests, counter culture and in this case, especially, in the music, is the presence of different types of inebriates of the 60's culture..... The Beatles? Janis Joplin? Jim Morrison and the Doors? The Who? Pink Floyd? Jimi Hendrix and on and on.... there is no way to avoid that fact when you refer to the 60's and the music of that decade. That's not to say I'm supporting any kind of message in that way, but to deny it as a 'fact' of the 60's is possibly denying how it influenced the culture back then, not only in music, but also in politics and social injustices. It was partly due to "Mind Expansion" that allowed the youth of the time to break away from some of the outdated modes of thinking about what America stands for as a country, how it treats it's citizens of a non-white persuasion. What is the reason to be killing people in another country...? The expansion of thought about social injustices...about spirituality, about standing up against the government's abuse of power.... Not saying that Ali was involved in drugs, but I'm reminded of his quote, when he basically sacrificed a long part of his career to stand against what he believed to be an unjust war.... Quote:Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on Brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights? Does some of this sound familiar today, 50+ years later? That Haley's path crossed w/ Ali before he passed, during Idol and after at his 70th Birthday, I wouldn't be surprised if she was aware of Ali's significance in the 60's.... and that's not even bringing in that Haley appears to chose her own beliefs over things that might not 'play' well to her more conservative fans. We can see that by what she posts and what she says when asked. Haley is adamant about being her own person, from what I observe... It's one of the benefits of being your own person in the music industry, not being persuaded out of your own decisions for monetary consideration ![]() I understand the feeling that we should try to shelter our youth from certain things, like the subject matter of "White Rabbit" but in the 21st century, information is at your finger tips. It's naive to think that just because you shield your child from something, doesn't mean they won't learn it elsewhere, from friends, from the internet, from media about the 60's... I'm no parent, no expert in child rearing, but IMO it's probably best to let your child know that they can always come to you if they have any questions so you can control in what circumstance, what context, your child learns about such things. By hiding things from your child, it's possible you might encourage them to get answers elsewhere, where you have no control. IMO, best to arm your child with knowledge, your philosophy and why, in order for them to be able to make their own informed decisions. It seems this is how the Reinhart children might have been brought up. When I spoke to Harry about Haley, Harry told me he and Patti knew they could never be 'stage parents'... He felt it important for Haley to make her own mistakes, learn from them, and if she has any questions, she knows that they are a phone call away ![]() Haley's parents lived through the 60's, the music of the time defined their lives which then defined the way they raised their children.... and judging from the people, the family the Reinharts are, warm, humble, gracious and salt of the Earth....it doesn't appear that listening to that music (Patti is certainly influenced by Grace Slick who sings White Rabbit) has 'damaged' them in any way. It's probably a good bet both Haley and Angie listened to White Rabbit as far back as they could recall and they seemed to turn out to be intelligent, talented, bright and loving people.... Add to the fact, when you're a child, you don't usually think too terribly deep into what the lyrics are about. Because we adults know the reference doesn't assume that children will.... Lewis Carrole's Alice in Wonderland, likely read to them, what White Rabbit is based on, has been a beloved story told to children for umpteen generations..... PS Of the European concert videos on my channel, the top two viewed are both White Rabbit, The one from Berlin only 2,000 views behind WR from London (posted a month earlier)...it's not even close how far ahead in views both those videos are vs any other video from Europe I posted on my channel....at least in the small subset of people who watch videos on my channel ![]() That being said, I hope "Boots" is what she releases next, just so I can see Haley and Casey hamming it up in the video ![]() |
