RE: 2015 PMJ North American Tour - Himm2 - 05-06-2015 Scott sure likes to tour: SCOTT BRADLEE'S POSTMODERN JUKEBOX Riviera Theatre, Chicago IL November 18, 2015 8:00 PM +Google+iCal Doors Open: 6:30 PM Must be 18 or older to attend General On-sale Begins: Friday, May 8, 2015 12:00 PM RE: 2015 PMJ North American Tour - john - 05-06-2015 It looks like Haley will be appearing with Puddles for a few shows Quote:BIG news!! Puddles Pity Party will be joining the Postmodern Jukebox cast for shows in Charlotte, Nashville, Atlanta, and NOLA this month!! Tix here: http://www.pmjlive.comhttps://www.facebook.com/scottbradleemusic RE: 2015 PMJ North American Tour - Tusk - 05-06-2015 From that recent interview where Scott wants PMJ to 'always' be touring, kind of debunks that money can't be made from touring (travel, lodging, paying multiple artists, venue, advertising etc...) Especially if you plan to tour 'all the time'. I understand that he's striking while the iron's hot, and there appears to be a global demand for PMJ, I just hope he doesn't saturate the market. There's also the possibility of wearing himself out, what with organising the next tour, mixing and matching performers as well as putting out new videos every week... Good for him he's making the most of his opportunities, but he's human, fatigue, both mentally and physically, have to be factored in eventually. There's also saturation of the product. While I enjoy many of PMJ's covers, going at that rate, a video per week, there starts to be a 'sameness' that creeps in. They go from being fresh interpretations of favorites to ... meh. I'm too close to being a fan of Haley's and love what PMJ have done w/ her, but honestly, I will admit to having a 'meh' attitude with many of PMJ's songs that don't include Haley, like the recent one w/ Von. Though it's cute Haley gets background singing cameo, it's not enough of an impact for me to rewatch it more than once The new vid w/ Von, my first impression was it was an arrangement that forced the 'Grease' sound into the piece, and the vocals? "Caterwauling" came to mind when I listened to it for the first time ![]() RE: 2015 PMJ North American Tour - Babbs234 - 05-06-2015 (05-06-2015, 05:10 PM)Tusk Wrote: From that recent interview where Scott wants PMJ to 'always' be touring, kind of debunks that money can't be made from touring (travel, lodging, paying multiple artists, venue, advertising etc...)I've been wondering the same thing lately. How does this guy keep up with everything?! Between all the social media, videos, touring, interviews ,etc plus Sunset Hyde shows too. And even figuring out what songs are going to be performed each night on tour since the cast is frequently changing. Scott's a very busy guy. a real workaholic. Hope he doesn't burn himself out. ![]() On the plus side, any time Casey or Haley want to get out in the world and tour a little and perform for their fans, all they have to do is call Scott Bradlee. ![]() (05-06-2015, 12:10 PM)Tusk Wrote: That is a huge marquee! How exciting for Scott and everyone with PMJ! RE: 2015 PMJ North American Tour - Tusk - 05-06-2015 I have a feeling a split might be in the future, they kind of already did something similar when Scott was in Europe on tour, there were some PMJ members in the States to perform at Hyde Sunset as 'PMJ'... I think Shoshana and Blake? Didn't Scott even tweet that people should go to a Hyde show, while he was in Europe? I think even Haley was at one of those shows while she was still in the States and PMJ were beginning the Euro tour I don't remember if they did it every Wednesday while the 'A Team' was in Europe, but I do remember some tweeting about a show at the Hyde at the same time PMJ were in Europe. Is that the next evolution of PMJ? Are there so many 'members' they can actually split into at least two troupes that can call themselves PMJ? Scott's still recruiting new performers that had not done anything w/ PMJ previously. He's got at least two tap dancers, a tambourine guy and a troupe of thematically similar dancers and that doesn't even count the 7 foot clown I guess the ultimate question is, does Scott need to be in the band in order to call itself Postmodern Jukebox? PMJ have performed w/o Scott at the Hyde so I guess the answer is yes? Established bands tour now because they make their money from touring and not from record sales like they did in the past. It's not so easy though for lesser-known bands. That's no myth. Scott has established his brand by releasing new music on the Internet every week for years. I think his plan is to have troupes traveling under the PMJ brand. That would give him the luxury of cashing in on PMJ's popularity without him personally being on the road all the time. He previously spoke of having a "residency" and a traveling version of PMJ. Quote:There's also saturation of the product. While I enjoy many of PMJ's covers, going at that rate, a video per week, there starts to be a 'sameness' that creeps in. They go from being fresh interpretations of favorites to ... meh. I agree with that. But if he builds a big enough base of videos and fans, he ought to be able to continue to tour to some degree. If his viral hit ratio is high enough, it'll give PMJ a boost ever so often. The tours also generate local press. When I say it's a myth, I'm referring to the old model the music industry was based upon. You toured, even though it was costly, so you could promote and sell singles/albums. Decades later, the paradigm has done a complete 180, your singles (in Scott's case, iTunes/videos view) are your business card. The songs build support as far as the internet reaches. I mean think about it. About 2 years ago, he had 100K subcribers? Now he's not only touring successfully to enthusiastic, 'internet connected/social media generation' fans, just in Europe, now in the US, but soon worldwide? Even to New Zealand/Australia? It's actually pretty amazing what he's accomplished in such a short period of time, and it seems this is the tip of the iceberg what the PMJ potential is.... ![]() RE: 2015 PMJ North American Tour - Miguel - 05-07-2015 Quote:scottbradlee ![]() ^ Makes me think the extra money for the Meet & Greet might be worth it if it guarantees early entree at every venue. The conversation , questions made a thought click for me.. ... Harry Connick Jr Harry never wrote any music of his own that sold well yet turned himself into a persona musician who certainly makes millions a year over a long period. He's more of a Vegas act sort of guy but that pays well if you've got the name to be a "must have " sorta special thing. The skill set has to be more than just playing music.. you need to do comedy and play the host and all of that .. and some of the girls and casey showed some skill at that and anyway that is something that can be learned and developed in many people with at least a bud of the nature for it. Harry's big break was his covers of standards in the soundtrack of the smash Rom-com definining a decade(almost) When Harry met Sally (billy crystal, meg ryan) One thing built on another.. a break allowed a window of opportunity. In the end though, Harry Connick's ability to be not just a musician but also a Persona helped him find his high paying vegas like career. Lots of paths to sucess... things change but things weren't always just one model or another .. plenty of models even if some come and go. Is that how it's normally handled or was London just luck of the draw? The Meet and greet guarantes early entrance. After we met the performers, we went back outside, but were allowed to wait in our own section in front of the general public line, at the venue entrance. We also didn't have to go through any security check of bags. We were let in about 10 minutes before everyone else. If I hadn't been an idiot and went up to check out the view of my terrible balcony seat, I could've been front and center. When Scott took the crowd selfie in London, you could see all the other meet and greeters in the front ![]() Edit I just went to PMJ's VIP page (featuring Haley's Creep video that automatically plays) Looks like they updated it, and yes, it does mention early entrance: Quote:-Commemorative Vintage Key that will unlock up to 20% off merchandise the night of show, and you never know what else down the road. You’ll want to hold onto this! So early entrance puts you at the front which makes it likely you will be in the selfie that Scott posts on Instagram (like in the London pic) Also, they've added a new short video to advertise the Meed & Greet The Commemorative Vintage Key is a new addition to the M&G that wasn't there before |
