Go to Tony Pulizza's FB page and his featured pictured is ![]() I wouldn't be surprised if he carried it in his wallet! I think Haley outgrew Idol during the season, and ultimately stands way above it. I think it happened after RITD. Up to that point, she performed for the judges. She tried hard to appease them and took most of their suggestions. After RITD, she made the "There are a lot of opinions in this world" comment to Ryan. That comment and her response after Beautiful, a simple "okay", sent a clear message to me that she was now receiving advice from other sources and didn't need the judges to validate what she and others already knew. Her performances from that point on were for herself, the audience, and for us, and not for the judges. The week before RITD she and Casey had just killed it with Moanin' and she was starting to soar. (When I look at Moanin' it just blows me away -- they had never performed a duet together and only had short time get that ready, yet it was so tight.) She spoke about getting lots of opinions and "life lessons" from others the week of RITD in the Slezack interview and at least one other I have seen. There's more to it than is conveyed in the interviews, but from Haley's POV it probably came down to doing what her gut told her was right, which represents a synthesis of the input she valued. It seems that all the advice and feedback was starting to make her head spin and after the Moanin' performance she got the confidence to get beyond that and things became clearer to her. RE: Haley's in the studio. - Miguel - 01-14-2012 Himm2 has made an information packed post on IF: http://idolforums.com/index.php?s=f3cac24d88f1524327ec7d4c1573dc8e&showtopic=680905 RE: Haley's in the studio. - midnightblues - 01-14-2012 Good news I saw that earlier and was going to post it but didn't know how. I need a crash course on social media transitions. I stand corrected. (transactions) RE: Haley's in the studio. - Miguel - 01-14-2012 I posted that while 30 songs is impressive, I am most thrilled by the news that Haley's parents are excited on a professional basis. If the album satisfies their expectations, it's likely to meet ours as well. RE: Haley's in the studio. - john - 01-14-2012 I had no idea that she had recorded that many songs. She's been a busy girl. It all sounds very encouraging, although single may not be out till the end of the week. RE: Haley's in the studio. - midnightblues - 01-14-2012 30 songs is enough for a double CD package. RE: Haley's in the studio. - Miguel - 01-14-2012 30 songs, two recently. And Hollywood Hot Sauce was apparently trying to run her down earlier in the week to present another song to her. So what is up with that? Were they not happy with the early direction they were going in? I doubt all these songs have a "retro Motown sound with hip hop beats." Were some of the songs artistically pleasing but potential commercial duds? Was Haley so good and prolific in the studio they just kept throwing new songs at her? Maybe the meeting they had today was to decide the album tracks? That would make for a fun meeting. RE: Haley's in the studio. - midnightblues - 01-14-2012 It would be very cool if Haley could go back to her roots, her jazz roots, Motown roots, and her classic rock with the approval of her producers. I really don't want to hear hip-hop or pop music. Jazzy sultry smoking hot like she said she wanted to record earlier on when she was in an interview and they would ask her what kind of music she wanted to put out. The old-school stuff unfortunately were not in a old-school world of music and producers and record companies are going to have the last say in they are going to put out what is going to sell. My first pick would be retro classic rock. |
