Brandon has performed a couple times with Haley and Casey at the Hard Rock hotel's in South America

On the Lyndsey / Brandon Yahoo video, at about 7:30 they spend a good 2-1/2 minutes talking about Haley. Very nice.

Just rewatching the Idol videos. I'm delighted she was on the show, but especially after her disingenuous comments I find the closeups of JLo put a bit of a taint on the videos.

It seems to me that Ryan truly likes Haley, both as a person and a performer. I recall he was wowed by the Moanin' performance in S10, going to the judges for comments. On the new Bennie video Ryan weighed in as a judge when he came to center stage after the performance and cheered "You're so good, you're so good" as he embraced Haley. Right on Smile now do an interview with her.

That JLo comment..

Here's what I honestly believe happened.

The show wanted a James/Lauren finale. That was their planned finale from the beginning. You have the winner in Lauren..a girl, country..so likely successful. All things Idol needed after Season 9.

And then you have the entertainment factor in James. The Rock demo.

Those two were the favorites.

Well, then it became obvious that Scotty was going to win. From all accounts, he was blowing the field out. (Which really shouldn't have surprised anyone.) And because Nigel is such a control freak, he did everything in his power to get one of his TCO's (and Lauren was his top choice) in the finale...but Haley Reinhart was running second.

Then, to add in to the fray..Interscope was most interested in Haley..so I think Jimmy was pulling some things for her.

So they had a very split background.

So I actually think she's full of it when she says "they thought she was going to win." There is no way they thought anyone, but Scotty McCreery was going to win. Really, they thought she was going to beat Lauren and James...and they did everything in their power to stop it.

When it came to the final three vote Lauren and Haley were very close to each other - with around half the votes that Scotty got. I would have thought that Haley would get into the final two because Scotty would draw off that country vote. Judging from Haley's inital reaction to being voted off, she might have thought that to.

They seemed to want James in the final three as that time approached (he even got a homecoming), and Randy was just following his interpretation of the script by trashing Haley. Of course, he did James no favors with his nasty lunkhead approach to the task. Around that time the producers may also have been panicking as Haley kept killing it, with some talk that she "could actually win this thing."
