Loving this album so far. I definitely see myself listening to a few of these songs long term like I did with listen up!
But in true halien fashion I'm already planning what I want next from my haley wishlist.. From time to time I re-watch Haley's idol performances and I want a grittier, angstier soulful raspy growling haley like we saw on idol. Perfect song example would be you've really got a hold on me. The dynamics haley delivered in that song. The growling. The huskiness. The yodeling notes and range at the end. If she can deliver that on an original tune. I'd die. Also baby Doll and broken record have been on repeat.

Seems unlikely to me unless the delay is simply to account for the time devoted to touring. There are waits to press vinyl records and she only mastered the album two or three weeks ago.

Then again, a big point of touring is to sell merchandise. It would be a lost opportunity and a costly lesson if it wasn't ready to go.

I was thinking a few days ago about merchandising and the money it generates for Haley, and I started wondering if she gets a bigger % from stuff bought on tour (sold directly) vs stuff sold online. There's probably no difference, however I was planning on waiting to buy the vinyl at the L.A. gig instead of ordering online. But a six week lead-time, damn. Maybe I will just order it.

I was looking at the # of plays on Spotify for the songs on the album.  Excluding the ones with videos, the most popular song currently is .......  Some Way Some How. (Very limited number of plays.)

...Some of them she’s held onto for as many as eight years, waiting for the right opportunity to come along.

Organ-led gospel-reverbed ballad “Lay It Down” has been waiting its turn since she still lived with her parents in Chicago.

...It was her former label’s decision to release an album of all but three covers in 2017.

...“I needed to make all these songs have a cohesive sound,” she says. “I have to go in there and say, ‘You know, I really want a harp sound right here, and it needs to sound like this.’ I got to play keys on some of the songs. I was more heavily involved in getting my sound and my point across to everyone involved. I’m proud of that.”
