I love that he's still such a big fan.
I think for a lot of us, especially those of us that sort of..religiously watch these shows hold Haley's journey in a special light. (If you were a fan.) In many ways..she had the dream journey, and the nightmare journey. And you can tell from the people who have grown up watching these shows, and audition..that Haley's got a lot of influence.
Slezak is no exception.

(If Harry indeed did use the phrase, haven't seen it yet)
Edit, well, Harry didn't use the phrase as the tweets indicated, but, wow what a mess of a performance, puts him, Ben, in the crosshairs as the next to go
I wasn't referring to "hardcore bangage" and I don't think that Miguel was either ... While Haley was in her mentoring session with Jimmy, Jimmy had turned to the guy on piano, accompanying her, and asked if the piano player had heard the way Elton John plays those chords. "He [Sir John] pounds the keyboard," said Jimmy, then instructed the pianist to "break the piano."
While I believe that Harry probably has watched most, if not all, of previous seasons of AI, I think it illogical to think that Harry, a piano player himself (one who is quite capable of pounding keys for emphasis, when he feels it appropriate), would reference Haley's mentoring session (if he remembers it) when attempting to explain to Ben that Ben's approach on those chords seemed a bit -- tentative?

I am not Elton John. I am not Haley Reinhart. I am Ben Briley and I wanted to do something different last night. Tried to make it my own.

But, NUG, Barry Manilow is a much better piano player...

Barry should have stuck to writing, arranging and producing. He's very good at that.

I actually hope that Harry hasn't watched much of Idol over the years.Reason being that he actually said last night-and he said it before- that he believes that this season of Idol is the strongest ever. And he is someone who's opinion until recently I would tend to value higher than most and also someone who I would like to think,at least wouldn't just say something like that because he felt obligated to say it.But I was disappointed that he would say something like that because its not even in the ballpark.
I don't know how much of past shows he's watched but whatever it is- between that statement and the general mediocrity of the contestants this year its enough for me to sign off on this year.
RE: American Idol 2014 - Tusk - 03-13-2014
I keep hearing that he said "best" or "Strongest", I could be wrong, but I thought I heard him clarify, last night, that he said it's the most 'versatile' group of all seasons. Big difference compared with what's been attributed to him
