IMHO - It's more like "The Calm Before the Storm."
IMHO - Prepare yourself for the ride of your life - The fun has only just begun.

I believe there are tons of UBER-AWESOME happenings on the horizon for Haley and The Haliens.

It's good to hear some positive things. Haley is too good to see go by the wayside. And she won't. I just miss the daily dose of Haley.

It's still summer...here is a karaoke version of Free. You can sing Haley's part and hit the ground runnin...Tongue

HI...I have been a regular visitor here, but this is my first post. Thanks Miguel for this great site. I typically post to IDF and I just wanted to repost something I noted there yesterday. Let's PLEASE not get down about Haley not becoming a mega star overnight, and a "drought" regarding her prospects.... I agree that this is the "Calm Before The Storm"..with a great ride ahead. Please click link below about one famous record that got off to a somewhat slow start....

"Regarding Haley, the fact that she is the last one standing (after Pia's exit from Interscope/19 proper) ---this tells me that out of all the Season 10 Idols, Interscope/19 sees the brightest future for Haley. And they want to keep her and develop her for the long term. Remember "Listen Up" has only been out a little over three months.

NOT that I am comparing "Listen Up" to Michael Jackson's "Thriller", but interesting article link from NY Times Magazine---Thriller--30 Years Later talks about how when "Thriller" was released in November 1982, it got off to a slow start. The first single "The Girl is Mine" with Paul McCartney did OK, but the album did not take off until early in 1983 when "Beat It" was released. Then hit after hit followed.

So, I too, have bated breath for the critical next single from "Listen Up", "Oh My"--I hope, but "Undone" might be the one as well. Or both!

And, I think that all of these song placements from "Step Up" to VH1 to ESPN to SYTYCD to ABC etc portends very well for Haley. And she has been working with the Grammys too. And look at all the international love she gets. As someone noted, her songs are now being reviewed in the top echelons in Hollywood. Maybe I have on rose-colored glasses, but I still think "Listen Up" is just revving its engines, waiting for its breakthrough...."

Welcome, and just look at the increased number of members here at HFDOTcom over the summer months. If anything, this forum has gained spins...so we are glad you made your first post.

All Haliens are required to wear the rose-colored glasses...it's what we do, whether we think we wear them or not. Cool

Adele's 21 is another example...I believe, but I could be wrong.

That when the initial hoopla of the album release wore off Haley would return to a more normal life with much less tweeting, fans would move on with other interests, and Halien world would become a much quieter, less active place. I think we're seeing that starting to happen now, and while there will still be a few die hards straggling around, the wide-spread, mass-trending, daily-voting/requesting fanaticism will surely fade away.

Of course, if Haley becomes a huge megastar, with platinum albums and tabloid celebrity the frenzy would return, but that's not going to happen now or anytime soon. It's a bit of a reflective time for us even as we look ahead to her future. The true end of the American Idol Haley era occurred shortly after release day, May 22nd, and now we go on with life as we always knew it before the Halien madness took hold of our worlds.

It's normal, healthy, and doesn't mean we're not wonderful fans. It's just reality. As the old .38 special song goes, you hold on loosely, but don't let go. I'm sure being among the most devoted, we will continue to follow her career every step of the way, but maybe not obsess over small details. Time marches on...

I knew she was a great singer.

I didn't know that she was a great song writer. That was a huge and wonderful surprise bonus.

The great album she released probably secretly made me feel better about being so interested in her career happenings. I knew that I couldn't keep listening to cover performances of hers but I had to ask myself "Is it possible that I've got this extra level of interest as an act of rebellion and support coming from that unfair treatment by the judges?".

The album with 13 songs she helped compose which I really liked made me feel confident in a bright future for her.
I don’t think direct promotion to fans is the way to her next step at all at this point.
The music needs to get to fans in ways like that Step-up revolution placement. Maybe the football placement will find a more and more use by ESPN producers if it works for their ear and image. Maybe a producer will use a song as a TV show theme or a high profile theme throughout a different hit movie.

As for the near future.. I’d love to hear more random events like the Irvin Mayfield jazz club recording last fall. Its all about the music for me.

Do I want Haley on the cover of People magazine? Only because that will mean she’s selling enough albums to keep making more music with great writers and musiciaans collaborating.

Fame shouldn't be the goal, it’s just a means to the end for her to make music that will get to us and others that appreciate it and being able for her to support herself and her future family in a comfortable style through her life . If she can get enough money from song writing royalties and put out a modestly selling album every couple years, it might be a healthier life than traveling the country playing huge venues (although heck, that might be what she wants, and more power to her chasing her dreams)

In the shorter term, I'd be happy for another jazz club recording like the one we got last year with Irvin Mayfield.

I don't think a concert tour is what will build sucess.. thats a way to pay the bills once you have a hit.... its a low odds way of becoming a star. Being there and free to make TV appearances seems better than being comitted to travel the country opening for other performers.

I'm not in that business though.. I 'd think the experts know what they're doing.

RE: Dog Days of Summer - Miguel - 09-05-2012

I have a lot of faith in Listen Up! as well. It just needs to be discovered. I don't know how that will come about. Hit singles seem to be hard to come by. I'm still hoping for a Grammy award to call attention to it.

Quote:Kelly Clarkson & Jennifer Hudson are the only American Idol contestants to win a Grammy for an Album.
Carrie Underwood became the first American Idol contestant be nominated under the Best New Artist category.
Underwood also became the first American Idol contestant to win a Big Four Grammy Category - Best New Artist in 2007.
Underwood is also the fastest American Idol Contestant to win a Grammy Award, 1 year and 4 months since the release of her debut album, Some Hearts.

Buzz! I've been wearing rose-coloured glasses since I saw Haley at the AI concert on her birthday. Actually...longer! That girl has made a huge impression, I'm proud to say. Smile

Welcome to the "other" side RMD! And those are Haley-colored glasses you're wearing! I think you are correct and if we all have patience GREAT things will happen. Big Grin
