George Benson he plays a hollowbody Ibanez. Cool Jazz guitar
RE: Guitar Solos - Flask Man - 07-07-2012
Of course, lest we not forget George Benson's hero and mentor, the incomparable Wes Montgomery.

Great minds...I was actually thinking about doing this last night/this morning
I really got into guitarists in the mid 80's and 90's, There were so many amazing artists with the pyrotechnics.....
Starting with .....
Got to see Eddie on the 51/50 tour, no David Lee, but Sammy killed it
You're killing me Lovinda.... Steve Vai love is always appreciated.
Did you ever hear his early stuff when he replaced Yngwie Malmsteen in Alcatrazz? His solo starts here
And with his stint with David Lee Roth...here's the whole album
Vai's guitar brought this album from 'ok' to pretty good
Then there is the amazing Michael Schenker and his seminal album, "Built To Destroy" (His brother Rudolph Schenker, along with Mathias Jabs, were the guitar duo in the German band, The Scorpions)
The Intro to "Rock My Nights Away" still give me goosebumps...I got to see him tour to support this album too Awesome 'driving in your car on a summer day" song.
And of course, it wouldn't be right to leave Joe Satriani out of the list, with the amazing album, "Surfing with the Aliens"
Highlight songs on the album are, "Surfing with the Alien"
"Always with Me, Always with You"
I remember we went camping way back when way away from the city lights, to watch the Perseid meteor shower. Without the city lights or any man made lights, you can see the milky way and all the meteors hitting the atmosphere....it was unbelievable, and we had "Surfing With The Alien" as our background music...so appropriate
If you get any album from Joe Satriani, this is the one to get...unbelivable guitar album. One of my all time favourite albums...Highly recommended (I posted a 'full album' link, but it had issues so replaced it)

Heck T-Man, I never even heard of Alcatrazz But I love the "Jet to Jet" video you posted! And Eddie, love the D.Roth days of =VH=. Not a big Satriani fan, I mean I can hear how great he is, but the feel of his music rubs me the wrong way.
PS. Do you have any video of Steve Vai from his Zappa days?

OK, it's hard to out-class Georgy B and the Full Monty, both among the greatest guitar craftsmen ever. But I can offer a master technician of another breed:
If you start getting bored just jump to about 3:15 where he really starts making the guitar his little Miss Piggy.

They're all great jazz guitarists of my all-time favorite in the Jazz category is Larry Carlton. There's a story behind that. I'll splain laters

You guys have nailed some great shit on this thread. Some I've never heard before. Here's one of my personal faves...

^ Agreed FM, some real gems!
Speaking of new to someone, I recently received a Brian Setzer Orchestra "Live in Japan" DVD from a friend. I was impressed at what a fantastic guitarist Brian Setzer really is (I thought he was just OK before watching this DVD). And what a fun show in so many other ways as well. There are so many guitar diamonds, and other gems, throughout the entire concert.
Here's the Complete Concert. IMHO, a must see.

There is no YouTube for this, so I'm linking to the iTunes snippet. BB King, Gambler's Blues LIVE at The International 1966. If you don't purchase it after hearing it I'll be shocked. AMAZING!

Hey Flask Man, I'm starting to get the impression that you might enjoy hearing a little blues guitar? I hope you like this:
This post was inspired by the impeccable Mr. Tusk.
