Lovinda, as a metal fan since the 80's (not so much nowadays) I have to wonder if Twisted Sister or Kiss, constitutes 'Metal'...Cross between Rock and Hair Bands IMO. (Although I'll give props for the choice of Kiss song/video
) I will however give Motley Crue a nod to be accepted into the metal genre simply because they were the first and possibly best of the Hair/Rock bands of the time, and they really rocked it Hard (Don't get me going about the 'pretenders', Poison.)
Instead, in honor of Ozzy who performed with the original Metal Band, Black Sabbath, at Lollapalooza, with the 'died too young' Randy Rhoads, on Crazy Train

A number of heavy metal genres have developed since the emergence of heavy metal (often shortened to metal) during the late 1960s and early 1970s. At times heavy metal genres may overlap or are difficult to distinguish, but they can be identified by a number of traits. Glam metal (also known as hair metal) is the term used to describe the visual style of certain heavy metal bands that arose in the late 1970s and early 1980s in the United States, particularly on the Los Angeles Sunset Strip music scene. It was popular throughout the 1980s and briefly in the early 1990s, combining the flamboyant look of glam rock and playing a commercial hard rock/heavy metal musical style. "Hair bands" was the term popularized by MTV in the 1990s and derives from the tendency among glam metal acts to style their long hair in a teased-up fashion. Many of the bands donned make-up to achieve an androgynous look, similar to that of some 1970s glam rock acts. Kiss, Mötley Crüe, Poison and Twisted Sister are examples of metal bands who adopted the glam metal look in their stage attire and their music video imagery.
As for Kiss, there have no doubt been more talented metal bands over the history of metal, but few have been as influential. Kiss is a pioneer and charter member in the Metal Hall of Fame because they took the metal genre from cult status to mass, world appeal. Rock music fan or not, everybody has at least heard of Kiss. And I'm not a huge Kiss fan, but I do like a few of their songs.

PS. Bear in mind also that those videos I posted were in reply to Tower of Power and Pat Boone videos. I actually almost posted that Ozzy "Crazy Train" video as the "peace offering", but I remembered that John was "bored with Black Sabbath", and Ozzy hit too close to that (besides, the videos I posted seemed more in line with the gay trail we were on). But most of all, I thought all you men might enjoy the bare-breasted blonde in that Kiss video a bit more than another clip of maniac Oz.

I also liked Kiss alot in my youth...It's just the 'in your face' attitude of their fans irritate me quite a bit.
Since I refered to my Metal times as a youth, as part of my senior year, we were allowed to do skits for the school in the Gym. Me and my friends decided we wanted to perform as KISS
So I was Peter Chriss and lip synced "Beth" (I remember the 'smokey enhancement' we used before as our girl friends applied our make up
) I sat behind a cheap drum kit If that wasn't cheesy enough, we had the 'bright' idea to buy some dry ice to enhance the 'performance'. The hilarious, cheesy part was we didn't buy enough to have any affect at all, it just steamed a little in a bucket in front of us. We also bought blood capsules for our "Gene Simmons" which was ridiculous because it just came out as a gelatenous goo (we didn't really care cause we had a blast making fools of ourselves)
We also 'performed' "Hard Luck Woman"
BTW I'm in Vegas 'til wednesday (leaving thursday) and realised I had one more Haley T Shirt, it's yours if you want it.

PS. I guess "Twisted Sister" and "Kiss" being "Metal" is kind of like Haley being a "Rapper"
