Adam has been in the "struggling" artist era of his career, something Kelly hasn't been in. (When she had the "My December" issue, she was already a superstar) and he's also been niche pop. I think that's all that is being said.
Kelly had a very different road.
And as much as I agree that being on tour with Adam didn't help Allison, that's because of her label failing her, and anyone on that tour would have already known who Allison was and would have bought her album, had they wanted it. (As opposed to Haley being from a different season.) Also, Adam's fans also started a petition to have Allison as part of the full tour instead of just half. (And that ended up happening.)
It's not surprising that he split with 19R. Eventually, the successful idols (well, all idols really) split with their original team because it's just not to their benefit to stay with them.

Ultimately it might be the best for Adam (just like it will likely be the best for Haley and others).

Adam's got an incredible voice and he's a smart guy. I'm sure he'll land on his feet. If nothing else comes up right away, he could front "Queen" for a bit longer. Brian May and Roger Taylor would probably be thrilled about that.

I think he's still with RCA so that isn't an issue.
He'll be fine. He's not hugely selling, and the last album didn't do to well on radio, but he's still sells pretty well comparatively to other artists. he should be fine.

Paul Rodgers, a great vocalist, a frontman and solo artist with quite a Rock and Roll history all his own (fronting Bad Co., Free, and the Firm), was a surprising choice to front Queen, IMO. I watched some of their performances with him as lead. While, he gave it a good try, Rodgers' style lacked the bombast and grandeur as a Queen front man and was not a great fit for many of Mercury's songs..... Lambert, although, no "Freddie Mercury" felt a better fit IMO. Rodgers performances lacked the 'Front Man spectacle' that Freddie brought.

Say what you want about Lambert, 2012 was HUGE for his International outlook....These appearances with Queen, standing in for the Iconic Freddie Mercury, and pulling it off? (somewhat...he's still not my thing, but it's hard to not acknowledge how good this was for him).
IMO the odds were stacked against Adam breaking the Idol bubble after his season. After great effort, the growth of his popularity outside the bubble, heck outside the US, is undeniable
Again, not a fan... Am not a fan of his high notes while I've listened to and enjoyed Durbin's songs, I can see why Durbin gets annoyed when someone brings up the comparison, their high notes are not, in anyway, similar. I can't name one Lambert song I've listened to all the way through....
BUT, as an outsider to the Idol history/clan wars/Post Idol hang ups people have with them...... the little I take notice of Adam, he has almost always sounded thoughtful and intelligent when he speaks, had a harder climb than most because of his persona, his genre, and his sexual preference... In addition to having the "Idol Stigma"?
The gains he has made, despite obstacles, are significant and impressive, IMO.

I've always loved Adam! I love his 1st album, but never heard his 2nd one. Almost got to see him a few times in concert but the shows were too far away for me to get to.
