A little more modern song than the ones I posted, In the '80's a handful of foreign language songs made the charts. The English and German versions of this song got a lot of radio play. Normally an 'abrasive' sounding language. IMO, Nena's German version of the song was better than her English version.
Singer: Nena
Song: 99 Luftbalons
Language: German
Oh yes I also prefer Nena's German version of 99 Luftbalons. Foreign language songs from the 80s? I bet you remember this one (and yes another good one for Haley):
Song: Lambada
Band: Kaoma (Brazil)
Language: Portuguese

I think this song might work for Haley´s voice and She could probably sing it since She seems to like the latin culture
Well this is a little bit harder to sing...tons of lyrics
RE: If Haley could sing in any language... - Zem - 01-29-2013
I would like for Haley to sing some classic Bosa Nova like this Desafinado by Joao Gilberto
Or this swedish 'Öppna upp ditt fönster' (Open up your window)
Or this classic swedish jazz tune 'Sakta gå hem genom stan' (Slowly walk home through city)

Oh, yes, Desafinado would be terrific. So would the last selection, although it has lyrics in English. It's called "Walkin' My Baby Back Home."

And now for something a little more uptempo, a little more dancy, bellydancy to be exact but still accessible enough for western ears:
Song: Kirmizi Biber
Singer: Bendeniz (Turkey)
Language: Turkish
Something about Haley's voice just works with Middle Eastern music.

^Outcast, I like that Bendeniz song! Very catchy.

I wish a fusion of western pop a middle eastern bellydancesque pop would become popular someday, much like Latin music back in the late 90s. I love that sh!t!

Language: Portuguese You know I don't remember really hearing that song on the radio, but then I was in my metal stage so I might not have been exposed to it. On the other hand, it is familiar to me, I just wouldn't be able to tell you in which context I've heard it... But yes, I can totally see Haley covering this and having a ball with it
Unfortunately, some of the vids posted are blocked in the US....
"The Brunette" in ABBA, Anni Frid Lyngstad or Frida, was a jazz singer in Sweden before she joined the group. Here is a pre ABBA jazz performance... I think it would be in Haley's wheelhouse. I'm not a huge fan of Frida's 'whistle notes' (? I think I'm using the right name) at the end, but would like to see Haley give it a go.
Singer: Anni Frid Lyngstad
Song: En Ledig Dag
Language: Swedish
Frida, a mezzo soprano, was also trained in opera...which turns out to be a great complement to Agnetha's soprano vocal and pop sensibility. Together, their voices combined to make their trademarked "ABBA sound"

This song would be pretty far-fetched for Haley to sing, but it does fit into the running theme of this thread. This is one of my favorite Japanese singers, Akiko Yano:

I like it.
I don't see what is so 'far fetched' for Haley to sing this song, and something about the thought of Haley navigating around the japanese language would be fun
