Meant this in reply to babbs
Quote:I too, like jazz , but never really listened to it very much. Haley has made my interest in it grow, and I love all the jazz songs she has sung.
Listening to all these songs makes me realize how much experience Haley got at a young age. I mean how many people age 17-19 get to front a jazz band? That and along with her parents influence, made her what she is today!
I' was going to start a post about me but then I found these...
at least there's one other hot blond young lady(besides hales) that can wear short dresses and play Jazz !
These made me very happy to see
I used to play that one on the sax when i was her age.. but not quite as well as she does.. quite large bit worse on the improv part a few minutes in.
here's another.. wish there were more of her with that dress on..
Oh.. just so you all know I'm not only into nice legs...
here's a boy about the same age.... better in some parts maybe, less lose in others but they're both having fun feeling the music (not of Haley's caliber.. or perhaps didn't start as early and will come on later ...they like it either way)

At first I thought that was Haley in the video!

Swansteel, I too, love "The Way You Look Tonight." It's a wonderful song. It's just that I don't expect people Haley's age to know it. (Confession: I grew up listening to what my mother liked. I know the music of her generation far, far better than I know the music of my own.)
But, thankfully -- because of Haley's parents, Haley seems to know it all and has taken it in, absorbed it, and knows how to re-tool it in terrific ways that one would not expect from someone her age. I'm as much in awe of Harry and Patti (and their parenting skills) as I am of Haley!
Tom22, thanks for the videos you posted. Both kids show a lot of potential in addition to need for growth -- particularly in the concept of finishing a note, rather than just stopping (specifically the boy). Particularly for the girl, I hope the music world isn't as sexist as it was not too long ago.

Speaking of Jazz...even if we weren't...
Tonight my wife & I went to see Haley's Jazz Mentor Brian Logan & the Wheeling High School Jazz Ensemble that Haley was the first vocalist for back in 2008&9 at Horizon Park. This year they feature this soloist named Angela:
...and speaking of a different Angela, Haley's sister Angie made a brief appearance and as she finished chatting with Brian Logan as his band was playing, I told her that my wife and her former Girl Scout Leader were sitting over there<<, so we wandered over and Angie chatted with us for a few minutes before she left to go to the library. I didn't ask her anything about Haley. Sorry, I wasn't doing my Halien duty.

We're fans not reporters, usually you're almost always better off letting them offer the info rather than 'dig' for it. I'm sure they appreciate your discretion

Himm, congratulations on whatever you did to minimize/delete the sound of the wind in the recording, because it's obvious that it's breezy there tonight. (Here too!)
Angela has a lovely, "throwback" sounding voice (of the big band era). Hopefully, she will grow into feeling more comfortable in taking liberties with the song. Right now it doesn't seem like she is -- or, at least, not with this song.

I'm finding that my Google Nexus 5 cellphone is just as capable of taking decent video & audio as my Sony 16 mp video camera plus I can then upload to YouTube directly from the phone. I'm still experimenting with it (like keep your finger from blocking the lens Steve you dummy) and realizing that shooting video with the phone upright creates a skinny vertical picture like this more lively song that Angela #2 sang:
that's my silly wife in the audio background giving her singing response to each verse. I'm known for my Haley Yell, she's now known for her Angela Retort.
