The definition of that is working in the field means responding to a natural disaster tornadoes earthquakes.natural disasters It means getting out of the office getting your hands dirty getting in the trenches with people who have just experienced'catastrophes. Giving of your resources monetarily physically and emotionally. It's a good feeling to know that you have unselfishly inspired the person who is downtrodden and filled with grief. It's good to give. I hope my definition is the same as Webster'sLOL
By the Way, Steve that is a good idea to help out.

I've changed the header image to the image we used for Thanksgiving 2011.
I'll be going out of town to visit my folks, so it will likely remain until Sunday.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Miguel, thanks for the seasonal header. It's still as fun as it was initially! The worst of the winter storm seems to be east of you now, so hopefully, your travels will be safe. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and thank you for all you do with this site.
And a happy T-day to the Reinharts and all Haleyfan participants!

^^Whew! Did you have the opportunity to talk to people who lost their homes in the tornado? What was the general sense of how people are holding up?

The homeowner came by with his wife and said he was a few blocks away at a neighbor's house who said you better get home fast this is going to be bad. By the time he pulled in his driveway he saw a refrigerator 100 feet in the air coming toward him, he scrambled to the basement where his wife already was screaming from. Louder than the constant thunder sound was the huge thud of an electric transformer from a power pole smashing above on his bedroom floor. when they emerged to daylight from the basement his car was sideways in the neighbor's yard. It amazed all us cleanup volunteers that the homeowners didn't want anything saved...even photos and memories that we found. I talked with 3 homeowners and they all seemed upbeat and looking forward to the future. I guess the insurance companies were making them offers they couldn't refuse.

Wow that was such a great opportunity for you! So sad for everyone who lost their homes but at least you were able to help them. A small contribution like that can really make a big impact!
