It picked up 1000 Likes in the past hour and recorded more than 100,000 views. I was looking at the Like counter and it was clicking up at a rate of about 15 Likes per minute. RE: Haley making a video with Scott Bradlee and PMJ - john - 03-25-2015 ***Statistically update: the Kai Kamai upload of AABT now has logged 3 million views on FB. In the past hour it gained 1246 Likes, for a total of 18,879. The Share counter hasn't moved, so I assume that it only updates periodically. I'm glad to see the guy added this comment (I tweeted Scott about the video and wonder if he gave him a nudge). Quote:Kai Kamai See them on tour in the US this Spring ======> http://www.pmjlive.com RE: Haley making a video with Scott Bradlee and PMJ - john - 03-25-2015 ***Kai Kamia AATB check-in The video now has 3,647,704 FB "views" and 22,735 Likes. The number of Likes indicates that on average today someone has been clicking the "Like" button every 3 seconds (actually a little better than that). This has been pretty steady for the past several hours. While I believe this is a bootleg copy of the video, I think it is serving PMJ and Haley well. The poster does direct people to PMJ and promotes their upcoming tour. And Scott does brand his videos quite well. For Haley it is nice exposure to lots of new people. RE: Haley making a video with Scott Bradlee and PMJ - john - 03-25-2015 The Kai Kamai video now has more than 4 million views (4,098,552) and more than 25K Likes (25,592). The rate of Likes had increased to 27 per minute (almost one every two seconds) when I looked at the last five minutes. RE: Haley making a video with Scott Bradlee and PMJ - Tusk - 03-25-2015 Doesn't this seem like something that might be automated, like some kind of view enhancer to drive up counts? The pace seems...'unreal'? If it isn't, this is the definition of "Viral" RE: Haley making a video with Scott Bradlee and PMJ - john - 03-25-2015 (03-25-2015, 05:37 PM)Tusk Wrote: Doesn't this seem like something that might be automated, like some kind of view enhancer to drive up counts? The pace seems...'unreal'? If it isn't, this is the definition of "Viral" I think it is the definition of viral. It has been getting views at a good clip for several days but really took off today. I was looking to see if it increased because this is prime time for views on the video sites. If it is an automated clicker, I'd call that fraud, especially considering that people make business decisions taking into account that kind of information. "Likes" seem straightforward, click it and it says "you and 25,756* others like this" (*whatever the number is). The number links to names of the people who have also "liked" it...along with a button so you can ask them to be your friend on FB. I don't think the "views" number can be interpreted except as a gross measure of contact with viewers. A video with 1 million views has a lot more action that one with a thousand views. Perhaps views can be defined as "a glimpse or more" but I don't know. One can also look at people who have shared the video. You can share a video on your timeline, a friend's timeline, a group timeline, or privately. So, apparently this video is essentially (vitually?) posted on more than 35,000 Facebook pages, each one potentially generating more "Likes." Click on a person in the list and you can see the video on their timeline (if that is where they put it). For example, Jennea S shared the video on her FB page 28 minutes ago and is discussing it with her friend. (I just randomly clicked on her in the list of people that have shared it.) Quote:28 mins · ![]() Keep in mind that discussion happened on her FB page (out of sight unless you click to it via the share link). I was just peeping in on it. ![]() I've never looked at it before but the list of people sharing the video, and their comments are fascinating. Much different than looking at YT comments -- these are people talking with friends and acquaintances. New wave no-privacy in action. I'm not much of a Facebooker and I'm just learning how this works. It is not as straightforward as youtube, but lots of unseen (to the broader audience) interactions like the one above are occuring right now regarding that video. It is a powerful mechanism for viral view expansion. RE: Haley making a video with Scott Bradlee and PMJ - Miguel - 03-25-2015 4,704,489 Views Prior to posting AATB, he posted a movie trailer on March 18th. It has 3,195 views. RE: Haley making a video with Scott Bradlee and PMJ - john - 03-25-2015 I just looked at the Share list, which seems to be updating faster now. Time stamps indicate 10-20 people a minute have been sharing the video, that is, putting it on their FB page, or perhaps a friends. (I didn't get that number from a counter, but by eyeballing the names and links of people sharing.) Stuff that has been shared a couple of days ago is mostly stale and not doing much, but these new shares suddenly make the video available to all of the friends of the person who puts it on their page. These sharers have names and faces and you can click to their FB page and see it. |
