RE: Haley & PMJ - great exposure...what does the future hold? - john - 04-15-2015 I had the sense that the activity with PMJ was part of what was rolling. Obviously getting into the studio and getting the EP recorded was also something she was eager to do. But without the PMJ involvement the EP would be the story -- she finally got it recorded and we'd be anticipating its release "soon." Lots of good points IITWI. The PMJ exposure has been extremely valuable. It has given her needed exposure to old fans and new. Touring helps with polishing up her performance skills, especially with the high level of talent surrounding her. She has continued to connect with musicians and others like Scott. And I think she has found many of the ingredients in a band that complements her singing style. The PMJ band is a great fit for her. I hope she participates in a lot rather than a few of the tour dates. Get some more excitment brewing in cities where she could tour on her own later and continue to develop as a performer with an excellent platform. All her videos have been smashing successes for PMJ and I think the last two benefited for her having performed them a number of times. I'd like to see her do another video. She's in a position to work with Scott to put together the right song and arrangement that lets her hit it out of the park. RE: Haley & PMJ - great exposure...what does the future hold? - 30CamdenSquare - 04-15-2015 Here's my take on things. Like Tusk is saying, I think Haley's main goal is to relaunch her solo career. I also think Haley is well connected and in a better position to do it than some of her fans might realize. I'll come back to that. As far as Post Modern Jukebox is concerned, I don't think Haley will part ways w/ them after the U.S. Tour, but I think her solo career will start to take precedence around that time. PMJ's lineup seems fairly fluid and I wouldn't be surprised if Haley took a few of the guys out on tour w/ her. Also, it seems like a number of people, in the PMJ family, are trying to launch solo careers & it's very beneficial to PMJ if they're successful. That takes them to a whole other level in the music industry. As far as Haley & Casey, I think their strategy of primarily being solo artists, but also performing together & creating opportunities for one another through their individual contacts is working out great for both of them & will continue to work in the future. INTERMISSION - Now's the perfect time to get a delicious snack from the concession stand located at the back of the drive-in OK now back to my first point: Haley is well connected and in a better position to re-launch her solo career than some of her fans might realize. Let's go through the list. Music Lawyer: Diana LaPolt Booking Agent: CAA Publisher: Ole Band: Haley could put a band together for a solo tour from, members of PMJ; Quintin, Jacob, possibly Taylor from Casey's band if he didn't need them during that time; John, Keith, Courtney from her Listen Up period band; Brandon (probably her 1st choice for bass if he's available), possibly even Stanley Randolph if he's available. Haley's worked w/ a lot of musicians. She can get a good band together. Label: Ole - When they expanded their contract w/ Haley to include recording & promoting a new EP, they effectively became her label. And I think it's safe to say that Haley is much more of a priority to them than she was to Interscope. They also seem to have a pretty decent amount of influence in the industry. When she re-signed w/ them they didn't seem to have any trouble getting her on a national Canadian morning show, a Swedish TV commercial, or song placements in TV shows. Also, I've noticed they work quite a bit w/ both Boardwalk/Vector & Hollywood records (owned by Disney - who own all the ABC stations, A&E network, & ESPN stations). Btw, do you guys know what "Dancing w/ the Stars", "Modern Family", & "Pretty Little Liars" all have in common? Hint: The answer starts w/ an A. Ole probably has great connections to other labels as well since they're a big music rights mgmt co., I just don't follow them as closely, so I don't see it as much. Management: I'm pretty certain Ole has people on staff who could manage Haley. Jenn Essiembre comes to mind (probably because ZZ now has someone named Jenn@Vectormgmt.com listed as her mgr. Not that it's the same Jenn w/ 2 n's, who follows most people at Boardwalk), however, someone has recently become available, who I think Haley's been waiting for. That's what going to the BMI awards w/ your former mgr., & tweets like this one, back in July, seemed to hint at anyway. Quote:haleyreinhart Now some people thought that she might be leaving the music business & I'm not absolutely sure she hasn't BUT she posted her updated resume on linked in last week. https://www.linkedin.com/pub/chiara-kramer/7/7ba/20b Also it kinda looks like her position at Boardwalk/Vector was always supposed to be temporary & I noticed Boardwalk moved from their old offices in West Hollywood to Vector's offices in Beverly Hills sometime last fall. (They had the address on their facebook page for a while but have since taken it down.) One last thing. The timing from a touring standpoint could not be better for Haley's EP to come out later this year because: Allen Stone - New LP "Radius" drops May 26th ZZ Ward - Has been writing/recording her 2nd LP since Sept. & is probably in the mixing phase. She has some festivals booked this summer. No title or release date yet. Delta Rae (Toured w/ ZZ in 2013) - Just released their sophomore LP "After It All" last week. Gin Wigmore (Toured w/ Phillip Phillips) - Announced her 3rd LP "Blood to Bone" would be coming out this year. Grace Potter - (Label mate w/ ZZ/Queen(Adam)/BeaMiller - toured w/ ZZ) Just released a new single "Alive Tonight" I think all the things I've just mentioned & more is what Haley is referring to when she says "Getting things set up". During that time, she has done Habits, AATB, and Creep that combined will likely surpass 5,000,000 views on PMJ's You Tube channel sometime tomorrow. In addition, she has seen the AATB go viral to the tune of ~26 million views on Facebook and gotten the opportunity to sing in Paris, London, and 10 other European cities. Soon she'll be singing with PMJ on its U.S. tour.Lots of good points here and I have to admit that the bold type reflects a lot of my first thoughts about where she is or what's next, etc. Its all about momentum but at this point I can't begin to predict or suggest anything because there are too many unknowns. But I am most anxious to see the response from this upcoming U.S. tour-specifically in light of this new recording of Creep.Unlike other songs that she has done with PMJ that have done well this one is a true showcase and has the potential to be a real showstopper. And it will be here in the States.Stay tuned. RE: Haley & PMJ - great exposure...what does the future hold? - Tom22 - 04-15-2015 This sort of triggered an "one off" sort of thought. I realized of all the pop music I've really liked an extrodinary percentage of it, "almost all" of it has been bands not individual singers. I'm trying to think of exceptions .... maybe Blondie? . I was never a Michael Jackson fan. Maybe Jimmy Buffett. But for the most part whether it was the B-52s or Led Zepplin or the dozens of otehrs who knows what the instrumental portion and interaction has been as important as the lead singer. The lead singer is just one of many including the "Front Man" Thats' not an argument... just a reflection on personal preference. If there were any one instrument I'd like Haley to bring along with her it would be a very good drummer I think ... her performances are different when she has a drummer. .. Another thought I was trying to explore with PMJ was how Haley's OWN music could be reworked in a PMJ way. Rather than singing Meghan Trainor why not sing a re-worked Oh My or Keep on Coming Back or Now that you'r here or Follow Me, or SpiderWeb. Even if Haley doesn't own all of ListenUP (did we ever work out whether OLE bought out 19e on that ?) there are some great songs on that album that would be intersting to have Haley/PMJ pick one of to mix in. Most of my favorite artists have been bands as well, but maybe more like 75%/25% for me. I think Ole bought the rights to all of Haley's music before expanding her contract. This is not going to happen. Scott's so busy he probably has very limited to time to write arrangements for other people to use. And there's no way in hell PMJ itself would ever perform one of Haley's songs. They stick to playing[/i] songs that most people actually know. RE: Haley & PMJ - great exposure...what does the future hold? - dswim2 - 09-02-2015 They just passed 300 million views! Yuzzah! Wonder if they'll mention it on twitter. RE: Haley & PMJ - great exposure...what does the future hold? - Tusk - 09-03-2015 As John noticed, Haley's PMJ videos have been viewed combined over 25 Million times Quote:haleystusk RE: Haley & PMJ - great exposure...what does the future hold? - john - 09-03-2015 (09-03-2015, 01:20 AM)Tusk Wrote: As John noticed, Haley's PMJ videos have been viewed combined over 25 Million times Cool Tusk. That is #theslayer theme song if I'm not mistaken. You need to send that to Slezak. ![]() RE: Haley & PMJ - great exposure...what does the future hold? - mercfan3 - 09-03-2015 Well, Haley forgave Randy.. |
