Maybe they mentor them the first night and perform with them the second?

So I haven't watched Idol at all for the last 2 years.....ever since the new judges came in the whole show is just different and boring. But I plan to watch it that day to see Haley and probably the finale to see the big ending of the whole series. Other than that I am really not interested in the show itself anymore.

I think most of us feel that way. As do many others -- Idol is knocking many weeks off the season this year. It'll end in early April.

Randy is/was a bass player. His past includes being a session musician for a year for the band Journey.
2011 Fallon interview:
5:05 - Jimmy: "What happened to my man, what happened to James Durbin? That was my man, this guy was awesome, I thought he was going all the way."
5:17 - Randy: "We're down to the final three now. You've got Haley, Lauren and Scotty. I thought, actually, this kid would go all the way (points to picture of James).
5:50 - Jimmy (holding up pictures of final three)... "You don't like Haley. You hate her... You're mean to her."
6:30 - Jimmy holds up picture of Randy playing bass in Journey
7:20 - They "do a little Journey jam" and James Durbin comes out to accompany Jimmy and Randy.
