RE: New Single "Don't Know How To Love You" - Rcul4u998 - 09-13-2018 On the third listen now. Upon first impression it actually sounds quite like a Morgan James song. It definitely has a classic rock feel. For some reason there's still something missing for me. Maybe it's too clean in a sense - the lyrics aren't captivating me. RE: New Single "Don't Know How To Love You" - Tusk - 09-13-2018 The single photo had me thinking we'd get something more jazzy, brass...but it has a same vibe, but leaning to a motown, blues, almost country bent... Quote:smoldering #DKHTLY When a song inspires a mental vision... Quote:Feels like something you’d hear playing on the Jukebox of a Smokey bar in New Orleans as you sip a glass of whiskey watching a young couple slowly swaying to the music #DKHTLY RE: New Single "Don't Know How To Love You" - john - 09-13-2018 Spotify has this listed as an independent release. So is Haley still affiliated with Concord? RE: New Single "Don't Know How To Love You" - Tusk - 09-13-2018 Haley posted a 16 second clip from the video https://www.instagram.com/p/BnsX99sHD4P/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=x1yri35dbs6c RE: New Single "Don't Know How To Love You" - Haleylvr4evr - 09-13-2018 Ahh her voice! And the lyrics! Just so pretty!! ![]() RE: New Single "Don't Know How To Love You" - Tusk - 09-13-2018 (09-13-2018, 10:53 PM)john Wrote: Spotify has this listed as an independent release. So is Haley still affiliated with Concord? When this came up earlier, someone noticed, I looked, and as of a couple hours ago, Haley is still on Concord's roster ![]() These are just observations.... It seems Haley and Jay have some kind of connection w/ Equality Vodka that they haven't really made a deal of, though for months now, even before the Troubadour, Haley has been doing a little promotion of them. I can think of at least a couple times in her Instagram story where she's holding a bottle of their Vodka and talking about them. Very minimal promotion. At the Troubadour, I think that entire thing was sponsored by EV. They provided the back drop for the photographs, their VIP and his wife were prominent, Jay and Haley were very chatty w/ them during the M&G before the show. ![]() **Note the font of Haley's name, is that the first time we've seen that? It's repeated on the backdrop at Ribfest, did EV design that for Haley? They have continued to have a social media communique w/ Haley and Jay. Jay had tagged EV social media often, even on my Instagram posts of the Troubadour. Quote:jaymichaelsmusic Then we have the photo of #DKHTLY, Haley's caption for the Instagram post, Quote:haleyreinhart A reply to the post: Quote:equalityvodka From being a sponsor to the one providing the art work for the single I just noticed them because it's clear there is some kind of agreement/promotion between EV and Team Haley, but they've not made any kind of significant declaration of any relationship, though it seems there's more than just admiration and a plug now and again on Instagram.... Remember when we found out about Concord? It was a slow drip at first, we started noticing the machinations. When it became official, it seemed that whatever agreement Haley had w/ Concord, it wasn't 'typical'....They helped supply the talent, produce the album, Haley controlled the art work, video, tour and promotion....Remember, she is and has always been about having some control of her output.... I think that factors in the type of agreement she has w/ Concord. Back to the point. I think this has fit right in w/ what we've seen of Haley as a business woman. She clearly wants to maintain control (who'd blame her w/ what Interscope did), but she's also incredible at collaboration, there's a level of professional respect you see when she works w/ others in the industry. I think it's possible, Haley is still with Concord, under the same agreement that she had w/ them for WTS. She has access to their resources, and still has freedom.... Maybe this is something she wanted to do and wasn't under contract to have to do it w/ Concord? (not the first time, SMYM was basically on a whim after brain stroming w/ a friend) Remember when Haley went home last year, then we see her visiting a recording studio in Chicago w/ Angie (We thought she was recording Time of My Life)? Remember when she showed up w/ Irvin Mayfield in NOLA and we wondered wtf? Remember when she recorded something w/ Jingle writers, "Jingle Punks", another something we may never see. Last few days, she flew to Nashville to record and write songs w/ Clare, it seemed Jay didn't really know why she was over there.... Heck, we probably have no clue when she recorded #DKHTLY as it is, this came out of the blue, I mean w/ less than a week's notice! So basically, my observation is, whoever she signs w/, who ever she works w/...Haley will always be Haley and she will want freedom and she will want to be in control Edit: I want to make clear (because I tend to be longwinded ![]() RE: New Single "Don't Know How To Love You" - Tusk - 09-14-2018 (09-13-2018, 10:53 PM)john Wrote: Spotify has this listed as an independent release. Here's some info on the song courtesy of Anders' Instagram story, another Rob Kleiner/Anders Grahn song (remember Rob was another associate Haley had posted working w/ on her Insta story.... I believe it was around the Troubadour, maybe after?) ![]() RE: New Single "Don't Know How To Love You" - Himm2 - 09-14-2018 (09-13-2018, 11:33 PM)Tusk Wrote: Did anyone see F is For Family coming?Yes...I caught wind of her Charlie Brown audition and Vince Vaughn connection a few months before anything was announced. I thought IDKHTLY was mentioned as a single from her 4th album. If so it seems surprising that she would release an album of popular music independently of her record label. I feel like the lyrics tell a complete story better than some of Haley's other songs. I particularly like, "And at the end of the day, you still have something to say... can't get the blues off your mind." It could be Concord still wants to work with her, but it's cheaper from Haley's perspective to self-produce. "WTS?" seemed expensive on the production end (studio time, live musicians, engineers and producers), but it probably didn't sell that well. So she might have paid a fair amount out of her pocket. |
