Hmmm -- of the Ella/Corinne Bailey Rae versions you've provided for a listen, I think I prefer the Corinne version, which surprises me. Much as I'm an avid Ella fan, and while her singing is, as always, flawless, I don't care for the arrangement at all.
The Corinne version is a quirky, very interesting (to me) adaptation of the Flamingos arrangement, and while at times, it is percussion heavy, over all, I like it.
Actually, shortly after I had responded to Cherylann's comment about the tune being something she could hear Haley doing, it occurred to me that I could hear Casey doing it as well. So maybe it's something they could do together -- with Casey playing bass, of course ;-).

I sampled about twenty versions. I didn't really find a favorite that stood out above all the rest. I thought of Haley singing Night and Day and how it is nice sometimes to just hear an old standard as it used to be performed. But I also thought that Haley could funk the tune up and create something interesting.
Along those lines, I liked the groove in the video below but checked out early because the recording was bad and it grated on me. I just gave it another listen in its entirety though and now I think I would like to see Haley take something like this approach with the song:

Haley has so much versatility, I think she could sing funk, R&B, rock, standards, country or jazz & do every genre justice. What I really hope is that her upcoming album has songs that are good so she can showcase her talent. Hopefully she won't get the Allison Iraheta treatment & they don't make her do pop.
