Indeed she has - last year, she did it over and over again. Her return may be a sweet revenge for her fans -- but she will handle it with such aplomb, a second career for her might be that of a diplomat.

Haley is definitely brushing up on her diplomacy, by the time season 11 is over Haley will be able to tell Randy to go to hell in such a eloquent way that he will look forward to the trip
Remember what that sound engineer said she's Bad Ass ,that still applies today.

That was Jim Jonsin. He produced quite a few of her songs on Idol such as Bennie And The Jets, Rolling In the Deep, I (Who Have Nothing), Earth Song, and What Is and What Should Never Be. Bad ass for sure.

Oy. Next week the Top 10 sing the songs of Billy Joel. Really? Really?? Nigel, I’m begging you, clear songs for these kids to sing that aren’t covered in dust!
In other news: Season 10 alum, Haley Reinhart will sing her single “Free”, essentially wiping the floor with Lana Del Ray who will appear via tape to sing her single “Video Games”. Lana taped her performance after tonight’s results show.

I don't think they'll present it as a "tape" of Lana Del Rey. I think Jimmy is strategizing and believes a lot of Lana del Rey fans may tune in and he can use her appearance to expose them to Haley. If this hypothesis is correct, Jimmy would want Haley to perform first.

I understand this reasoning, but Lana Del Rey does not have much of a fan base. She's still a new artist struggling to really get the music out there. She had a big opportunity to do just that on SNL earlier this year, but she botched it with a pair of bad performances. She became more of a laughing stock after that instead of a legitimate emerging artist.
Jimmy is likely trying to use AI to give both Lana and Haley a boost. A boost of credibility for Lana (if she actually sings well & this is probably why it was taped last night to ensure the best performance for her) & a boost of sales (and remember her!?) for Haley.
The taped performance is likely to be done first -- when the idols are off the stage, so that it can be seen as "live." It is a lot harder to do the camera trickery later on when the Idols have been broken into safe & bottom 3.

Over the past three weeks LDR's album has gone from #2 to #40 to #43 on the Billboard 200. As MJ put it, Haley is going to wipe the floor with her on AI. It will make for a nice contrast.

Judging from YT views Lana has a strong international base. The song Born to Die, for example, has worldwide appeal. The Russians seem to love it. However, the entire show will not be available worldwide at this time so that part of her fan base is probably not tuning in at all. Her YT clips have a ton of views, although the view rate has tailed off considerably in the past 2 months.

Yeah they will not point that out and casual viewers might not notice she is on tape. They did that with Lady Gaga last year.

It's not the size of Lana's fan base, it's the nature. Lana got that SNL opportunity (before her album was released) because they were considered on the cutting edge of emerging music. Lana's fans also dug her old-school glamor look. Haley is being presented as the girl next door from the same era.
