They could've said, I have to miles before he makes bail, and if I'm right were headed back to jail something like that. I think Jesus was more normal than most Christians I know. Yes, it is just a song, but why does AI let this song be performed on the show as is, but has to alter the lyrics to "You Oughta Know." It, too, is just a song, and is not talking about premeditated murder. RE: "Lauren Alaina and her mother have become road warriors" - midnightblues - 05-13-2012 Maybe you could say AI is without conscience or maybe their way of thinking is this, if you don't like it don't listen to it. Unfortunately their goal is to attract as manyviewers as possible, they're obligated to their sponsors. So if a viewing rate is low their sponsors are reluctant. This is Hollywood and that's what they do. Kinda sad isn't it? I guess I have to post this again because it didn't go through whatever. It is just a song and the mentality of AI is this, if it offends you and you don't like it then don't listen to it. AI is supposed to be a family show, and maybe in the beginning it was. I don't know about now. If the sponsors of AI think their ratings Are down there going to cancel. It's really sad to say but this is Hollywood, this is what they do to get money whether it offends people are not, kind of sad isn't it? Because I haven't followed AI I'm sure there are many songs that should not have been sung that are just as offensive as gunpowder and lead. Somehow they were overlooked. There are multiple possibilities. Maybe that's why the ratings have dropped. Or that's one of the reasons. This is Hollywood and that's what they do. Kinda sad isn't it? Too me, the blatant hypocrisy that shows it's face in, oh, so many ways is what's sad. But, frankly, I doubt that this particular "inconsistency" has anything to do with why ratings may be going down. RE: "Lauren Alaina and her mother have become road warriors" - buzzenator - 05-14-2012 Quote: Miguel post of article: I would have to agree that the issue isn't about the word "Hell", there seems to be a pride issue by Suddeth. I'm all for having standards, leading by example, which is why Jesus Christ is admired. Rather than point out all the sins in others or their rejected status in society, Jesus embraced the lost or rejected of society. The one thing that caused Him to be angry the most was hypocrisy, those who claimed to be religious and without sin and looked down on others. He spoke out against this type of person, the hypocritical religious leaders, with great passion. My reaction after reading this article was one of parental control, or stage mom syndrome. Lauren's mom needs the attention or focus to come back to her when her daughter performs. She wants others to see what a wonderful mother Lauren has based on Lauren's outward behavior and compliant nature. She does not want to be "embarrassed" implies that Lauren is under Mom's control and Lauren will receive conditional love and approval if she behaves a certain way. The pride issue also appears in the details of how Suddeth controls so much, "I put 25 percent up off the top, and no one can touch it until Lauren is of age. I have a business manager that I chose. I'm the president of Lauren's company. Everything goes through me..." Whenever you hold out your standards before others there will always be the implication that others are not living in accordance with your "higher level" of conduct. The implication is that Haley's standards and those of her parents were compromised and not up Suddeth's higher standards. It's almost laughable that the word "hell" is the object of not wanting to cuss. Wasn't there another issue with the words "I am evil" in one of Lauren's songs on Idol...she wouldn't sing the song because it had "I am evil" in the lyrics so many times? Having parents that care about your future and are intelligent enough to hire professionals to design a sound financial plan...these are good things. Telling everyone that you are above the typical standards of society is holding to some arbitrary level of behavior that you have established as "right"...judge not lest you be judged. RE: "Lauren Alaina and her mother have become road warriors" - john - 05-14-2012 Thanks to Lauren for giving Haley the opportunity to sing the song (although were they originally going to do solos?). I thought that Haley kicked butt singing that song and was cute as hell. Que Sera, Sera. |
