RE: Haley reportedly splits with Interscope - Tusk - 11-29-2012 Do we even know that Chiara is even on Team Haley, anymore? I think the only tweet I saw that connected the two, post split, was Chiara tweeting about the LU sale @ amazon... ![]() RE: Haley reportedly splits with Interscope - stairway2halien - 11-29-2012 ^ https://twitter.com/chiarakramer Quote:Haley Reinhart @HaleyReinhart26 Nov Quote:Chiara Kramer @chiarakramer27 Nov Quote:Keith Phelps @KEiTHPHELPS28 Nov RE: Haley reportedly splits with Interscope - Tusk - 11-29-2012 Thnx...so it seems Haley's 'inner circle' is mostly intact ![]() RE: Haley reportedly splits with Interscope - Haleylvr4evr - 11-29-2012 That's great she still has Chiara and her band to travel with. It would be a shame if she had to lose them from leaving Interscope RE: Haley reportedly splits with Interscope - suggahinyerteeth - 11-29-2012 (11-29-2012, 12:21 PM)danzeb Wrote: I'm guessing Interscope saw the spectacular performances Haley did on AI and was betting on more of the same. It didn't happen. Her big shot at introducing Free to a large AI audience didn't work out well. Her album was good but not good enough to generate enough buzz to get high sales numbers. She didn't develop a touring act good enough to attract large numbers of new fans. Maybe she will become more marketable but Interscope doesn't want to keep investing based on the results of the past year. It's a business decision. They need artists that will pay there bills. It's now up to Haley to find a new investor or do it on her own. You are a "Fan" of Haleys aren't you?? Perhaps you have not followed her body of work this last year as closely as some of us? Haley did everything she could, with Interscope not pulling their weight in how they promoted (or rather DIDN'T promote) her. Her album WAS AND IS good enough. And lord knows, she has worked hard. She put together a great band with some very talented musicians. Haley didn't drop the ball on this thing.......INTERSCOPE DID! As an "unconditional" fan of Haleys, I find your message a little offensive. ![]() RE: Haley reportedly splits with Interscope - makefigure8s - 11-29-2012 (11-29-2012, 01:36 PM)Tom22 Wrote: If I remember right, what we saw on idol may have been a filmed "dress rehearsal" that Haley didn't realize would be broadcast? This was explained somewhere. It was definitely purposely taped. It was due to the birdcage. They couldn't get it on/off stage without interfering with a live performance. RE: Haley reportedly splits with Interscope - Tom22 - 11-29-2012 makefigure8 - the question i had was whether or not she knew she was filming her final take or not at the time it was being filmed - there is always a bit more to give when you know its the final take. - ---- In general now, I'm beginning to get pissed off .... I'm dissapointed but not with a directed anger that the studio blew which song they picked to promote. Yes that was a major blow it with 20/20 hindsight yet, but they didn't do it on purpose. ... I also suspect that they have lots of music that they own which they think has promise - they have established artists with new albums out that aren't selling but they still believe in etc -- I can't expect them to be clairvoyant and I understand that they can only pick a fraction of what they have access to make a frontal assault - normal channels promotion for BUT - (i've just found 3 more songs titles - thanks Y ) there are 20 1/2 (and more we haven't heard) great songs that are just going to languish ---- --- do they have exclusive rights to promote those? --- surely the artist and the writers own large parts of the songs in terms of being owed royalties etc. But.. how does it work ? are all of those songs kinda hostage to the production company that paid for them? If say... Glee wanted to use a song ... does Interscope need to sign off on it? Does a new label have any incentive to promote past recordings? ? I'd love to understand more about how a production company makes their slice of the profits. ? Do they typically offer a price to assign their rights to a new company with a desire to step in? ? Would anyone fathom a guess how much they'd want to get paid as a lump sum to sell their interest in the album and unreleased songs? 200k ? 500k ? 900k 1.5 million ? ? I have no clue even in terms of order of magnitude. ? ? I know they use limited partnerships and stuff to finance movies and also that studios "buy" movies that are already completed to be the ones that release them ... if the dollar figure isn't that insanely high its not entirely inconceivable that an outside investor group might be arranged to buy the rights and help put them into a situation where a promotion organization without the working capital but with plenty of buzz might want to find a way to get involved. It's safe to say that these big corporations don't intend to lose money no matter what. But anyways you are asking about getting paid a lump sum in the interest of an album.like LU/ Say like a label were to come up and want to buy the rights to listen up for 300,000. They're still going to have to make a substantial investment for promotion and touring marketing and distribution plus all the people they have to pay to try to get the album back off the ground. dont forget the legal fees Hopefully there's a company out there that is willing to see this as an opportunity. The reality of it is that if they invest altogether 150,000 they will make damn sure they recoup there costs before Haley would ever get paid. That's just the way companies work. Their interest is ther company and the FUC-ing CEOs. IMO Great topic. RE: Haley reportedly splits with Interscope - alpha7388 - 11-30-2012 I believe the typical recording contract includes a payment to the artist for starting an album and another when it is finished. Whatever that number is, the proceeds from CD sales, downloads and performances all goes to the record company until the artist payments, musical production, musician fees, CD production, and all the promotional costs are recouped by the record company. Once that is all done, they start splitting the proceeds between the artist and record company. To reach this point, the album has to be very successful. If this point is not reached the record company may not do a second album or continue with the first one. This is why there are so few really financially successful albums out of all the album attempts each year. Think about the CD you used to buy in the 1980's for $14.99. With inflation they should be twice as expensive now but they are not. The music industry has taken that hit for many reasons including piracy. Contracts may differ from the above. It is also possible this all was understood by all parties. These are things that none of us can really impact, but what stands immutable is that Haley is a rare and beautiful talent and no change in the economy or industry can affect that. She will be a star in her own era. RE: Haley reportedly splits with Interscope - midnightblues - 11-30-2012 That's called an advance But stilll has to be payed back. and that come out of the profits of your album. It's business. So after everone has bin payed than Hales can start makeing money, Than there's the Tax Man |
