That is one thing I noticed about many Asian cultures, singing is part of their lives, they seem to take great joy out of it and have no problems singing it in a group, socially. I think in Western cultures, particularly in the UK and the States, people tend to be more reserved about their singing abilities.

In my visit with my relatives in Paris, there was singing at every party
(except for me, I whimped out when it was my turn , although, in my younger, drinking days ( ) I did try my hand at Eagles or Beatles on the karaoke)
