Do we know that "Can't Find My Way Home" is included and is that likely where Casey comes in? Based on "The Letter" and "White Rabbit" being sung throughout the tour, combined with how wonderful she sounds on them, I would be surprise if they are not on the album.

If it's a duet, it's most likely with her father, Harry.

We just tracked Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home", and Haley nailed it, made it her own. Some cool originals too. The record is her homage to the 60's.

Thanks, that's right. She sang it with Harry on guitar in Chicago. The duet with Casey is their co-write "Bring the Love Back Home" which I'm not sure if I'd want on the album or not.

RE: Day 1, album #3? - Nicicarus - 06-02-2017

Bring the love back home with the right production could be a hit, think of monsters and men little talks or home by Edward sharpe. Modern folksy duets do well on the radio. Lover girl is pretty much confirmed, too. Wonder whatever happened to knock me down with Clare renolds...

about the mystery of Haley's association/non-association w/ a label (Concord?)

What if signing is contingent on how Haley goes about producing #HR3? She's been given resources, maybe they're watching to decide?

Choosing favorites from an era five decades away to cover is the most strategic of Haley's 3 albums, you gain audiences who discover your originals by re working past favorites, and they are 'new' songs for the younger generations of fans....the timing, news wise of For song like What it's Worth.....

We've had two full albums of Haley originals, Better was originally supposed to be an EP....I have zero problems w/ this strategy, it's very sound....get new ears to your brand, then they will discover your originals since you've already put two albums out (to critical acclaim)Big Grin

RE: Day 1, album #3? - XAtlantic - 06-12-2017

To be honest, I don't get that whole discussion about covers vs. originals. Of course I love, cherish and seek Haley's originals. But as Tusk points out, she's been giving us lots of them. But as an artist, a singer, an appreciatrix of good music - what is wrong with performing it? Recording it? For one, she makes great versions - as great, if not at times greater than the originals, because of her talent and intuition. Also great music is there to be played, to be interpreted, to be performed and celebrated - classical music is completely like that. Not to play Mozart because it's been played before? To me, Haley is a great artist because she does it in all lanes: originals, partnerships, covers, old stuff, new stuff. I can see how there might be some strategic consideration, but deep down I feel it is just celebration of great music. Great artists are not lounge singers and not karaoke. They are great artists. They appreciate. They are creative. They do their thing with things. They just put it out there because it is nice and real, in their age, in their style. I'll take it! And then see what HR4 does, electric funk or jazzy rock or space age invention or renaissance remastered ... well maybe not the latter.

What I like about what we've heard up to know of the 60ies vibe (so curious to see what the studio versions will be like!!) is that there's a really smooth blend of singing with the band and the style and the overall sound, it is just so perfectly embedded and meshed, there's something that tickles me greatly, in a good way, and makes me think this is really going to work out great if only people get exposed to it.

And I agree with Tusk: most of these songs are not known anymore, and it was about time they're getting new life.

Nice surprise to see the announced role-out happening for real! Though I hope it will not be itunes only, because I don't do itunes (yes, there are still stone age people on this planet) and then I might be stuck! We'll see ... :-)

Well said XAtlantic. I have heard it asserted on many occasions that she must sing original songs if she is to achieve success. And, of course she does do originals that are solid and hold up really well in the concert setting. Originals are a good thing. However, the emphasis on originals as essential may be overstated. Perhaps it has been a demand of the pop world -- but it hasn't been for other genres such as classical music, traditional blues or jazz. Singers like Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, and Frank Sinatra did covers for the most part. In recent years Tony Bennett has achieved Platinum status with albums of duets covering American classics.

Moreover, the world of music distribution has been changing rapidly and I think it is hard to predict what is "essential" for success. There appear to be various niche markets where performers can do well. And we all know that Haley can consistently outperform the original when she does a cover. She has a track record of success with covers. An album that celebrates some of the music of the 1960s is a reasonable thing to do and it could be successful.
