...Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox, which performs Thursday at the Keswick Theatre and Nov. 12 at Bethlehem's Zoellner Arts Center, isn't exactly an overnight sensation. But just two years after forming, the group is headlining theaters around the country.

"It's incredible to go from unknown to where we are now in that short of a span," Bradlee says. "It shows how musicians can do it themselves with the help of the Internet and word of mouth. But in terms of the music, I'm doing what jazz musicians did in the '30s. They would transform pop songs into jazz songs. It's a natural for someone who is a jazz artist, since jazz musicians love to improvise. There is an incredible amount of pop songs out there to play with."

...Bradlee is an obvious constant, but the Postmodern Jukebox is a rotating door of musicians. More than 60 players have recorded with Bradlee.

"It's fun to work with so many great musicians," Bradlee says. "I never envisioned anything like this when I was going to school."

The University of Hartford alumus, who majored in jazz, wasn't sure where he would end up in the post-college world. His parents thought he would become a college professor.

"I think this path that I took was hard for them to fathom," Bradlee says. "Their dream was that I would teach at a university. But I never got a master's degree. It was something that just wasn't going to work out and that's fine. I went another way and it's working out. My parents are now really excited. But I don't know if they are as excited as I am, since the songs I can choose are limitless."

...The Bethlehem concert is a sort of homecoming for Bradlee, who grew up in Clinton, N.J.. "That's a show my parents will come out to," Bradlee says. "Bethlehem isn't far from where I grew up. We did Musikfest last year, but this is our first official show there so this is a big deal."

When coming of age in suburban Jersey, Bradlee didn't venture much to Pennsylvania. "It was an hour to New York City, so that's where I would go," Bradlee says. "Going to New York and feeling that energy was very exciting. That's where I went since when you live in a small town you don't have much of an opportunity to play with many musicians."

But now Bradlee does have that chance and he's performing with an array of talented recording artists, such as renowned saxophonist Dave Koz, Broadway's Morgan James and torch singer Ariana Savalas, the daughter of the late actor Telly Savalas. In his current tour, "American Idol" finalist Haley Reinhart is the singer.

"I've been incredibly fortunate," Bradlee says. "It's not just all of the support from fans. It's also all the assists I've received from so many talented musicians. Without them, there is no Postmodern Jukebox."
