Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion, I was just relaying mine, especially on whether Puddles entering affected my enjoyment of the song.
Ask anyone, I have always had high regard for you, as I told Ken in Chicago, you are a wonderful person, and he whole heartedly agreed

Thanks for the report Pat, I really enjoyed your Periscopes during the show.
It sounds like you had a great time and it looked like a great show. Lots of nice treats, like having Haley's parents there and the birthday tease by Ariana to her father. That was a clever idea with the playing cards.I, too, found Puddles somewhat annoying. For me, a little Puddle goes a long way. It was my impression that the band was going to ramp it up in the second half as that started about the time Puddles came out. I enjoyed the stronger vocals from Haley in the live setting, although the dancers were a bit distracting -- ultimately I may have found Todd more annoying than Puddles as he dragged Ariana around on the stage. Regardless, as I would have expected, Haley hit it out of the park.

Thanks for the detailed recap, Pat. We appreciate it. Glad you were able work around the ticket snafu. I caught some of your Periscope and enjoyed it. I agree with you about Puddles. As someone who is primarily a fan of Haley, I prefer her performances to be free of visual and audio distractions -- especially when it's new material. But I'm sure many fans of PMJ in general felt it added to the fun they had that night. The custom playing cards were a smart gift idea. They'll be thinking of you down the road when they're on the road.

I'm not good at writing recaps so thanks Pat for a job well done and for making the long drive with Buzz and joining him as the life of the Midnight Spears Party.
I definately don't understand the fan support for Puddles, and I think Haley will respect my opinion whether he's her friend or not. In Nashville I was pushed out of his way so he could awkwardly climb over the railing and his mouth kissing of Morgan & Ariana when they seemed to only allow it because they had to, made me uneasy. He snatched a cellphone out of a girl's hand in the front row without asking.
The same audience shoving happened in Chicago last week. His suitcase bashed me on my shoulder as he pushed me aside. He stepped on the ledge right where we had 3 drinks & my Fedora sitting. He broke the bottom of his lantern as he had trouble getting over the rail and he knocked over the microphone stand. His crotch-grabbing, projectile-throwing and gum spitting antics might be entertaining to some kids but not this Dad Fan. Haley had to pick up a microphone from the dirty floor where he left it for her to sing into for her CHFIL song. And then his demand for an ugly comedy attention-grabbing loud crowd reaction caressing of Casey during a beautifully sensitive song did piss me off as did every Halien in attendance that were personally affected by it. The Periscope had Puddles & the reaction partially hidden. His antics are all about keeping the focus on him. I don't accept any ridicule for my opinion either. If I never see Puddles at another PMJ concert I'd be more than fine with that. Why don't I say what I really think right?

Just so everybody knows, Pat and I have had a friendship for awhile, shared some unique experiences.
Fortunately we were able to talk it out somewhat, and are still friends. I'm glad our friendship can whether small misunderstandings.
When I brought up the subject, I had heard many 'blame' Puddles, but it occured to me, Puddles is not only a PMJ vocalist, he also brings with him an act. This is not the first time he's performed w/ PMJ, not the first time he climbed out of a crowd. This is what he does, just as Ariana's act is to be the seductress femme fatale. Puddles 'act' is what we saw that night. It is something many PMJ fans like.
If it was something unexpected, the sudden burst of laughter and commotion behind Haley, she might have turned around and looked. Did she? I think I even saw a slight smirk on her face during a mostly emotional performance. Instead, Haley did not skip a beat, powered through a magnificent finish. If Haley did not expect something, she may have paused, but didn't skip a beat
As John noted, Puddles came in just when the music began to 'ramp up' to the big Finale.... I guess what I'm saying is, there's a chance that him coming on stage as the music got louder, ramping up, was possibly planned among PMJ, part of the show, part of his 'act'.
I can't speak to being in the audience because obviously, I wasn't there, what I do know is this is not the first time, nor the last time, we will see this kind of 'act' from Puddles. If it were so agreegious what he did, I doubt Scott would ask him back, again and again.
Like I said, IMO it was very unusual that Haley would tweet out and favorite a performance that wasn't hers, and shortly after I posted the video. It got me thinking about the annoyance that some Haliens felt, that it was Puddles random choice to come in and interrupt Haley's moment. To be sure, I agree, this was definitely Haley's moment in front of her hometown, crowd. I'm just unsure that it was accidental, or unplanned. Judging from seeing what Puddles' act is, and that he is invited back time and again, maybe his 'antics' were not so random or unplanned, after all?
Pat did write a great review, her gifts were memorable and put a stamp of impressions in the PMJ's minds that they won't soon forget. Her Periscopes brought us to a memorable show that was a highlight of the night for those who couldn't be there. Hopefully we can look forward to more recaps in the future.
I'm very glad and grateful that I've had the time to build a friendship w/ Pat that we can survive this kind of thing

Great recap Pat, I really enjoyed reading it. I'm also glad that you were able to get your tickets worked out. Pretty sweet gifts too! I like the lollipop idea that you guys came up with for Ariana, and great idea to pass out Extra gum.
I didn't care for Puddles' antics either. As Tusk pointed out, it could all be part of the Puddles routine, (although not planned I'm sure, Scott wouldn't plan that). But as Tusk also noted, "To be sure, I agree, this was definitely Haley's moment in front of her hometown crowd.". His antics/timing were uncalled for, lacked class, and irked me quite a bit as well. Still was a great show though from what I read from you guys and the videos and periscope! Sounds like I need to brush up on my ping-pong skills for the next Chicago Shindig!
