Haley is a creature of creativity, of youthful wonder and perspective, I welcome her limitless possibillity. In a recent interview she said jazz comes easily to her, and that's been her 'leaning' of late.....
Aren't you the least bit curious what she can do in the blues/rock arena?
I love her jazz, I've been patiently awaiting Rocker Haley to be taken out for a spin..."Spiderweb" and KCB are a morsel of her potential in that genre so these little bytes of clues for her EP about being more edgy and rock oriented is music to my ears

The blues/rock arena is excellent for Haley too, and I can't wait to hear more of it. The "pop" comment she made surprised me though.

Well, Haley would be doing herself a disservice if she didn't see what she's capable of in pop as well. Not all pop is bad, and her brand will have some combination of other influences so it'll be "Halienized" pop
It'll always feature Haley's voice, which has yet to disappoint me.
If she does pop and succeeds and get's more ears on her brand.....that's not a terrible thing to happen, as you know she will move on and explore her talent further.... That's what the Beatles did, and we know what kind of influence they were on her... You can't get much more pop than "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and "Please Please Me" or "Love Me Do"

I believe Haley thinks Listen Up! falls mostly under pop. But she specifically mentioned a lane opening up for rock and roll. Thus her focus is pop and rock.

I'm starting to think her new music is a cross between ZZ Ward/Alabama Shakes and Taylor Swift.
Miguel - I wouldn't worry that Haley's "stupid boys" choice of subject matter will mean that her lyrics will mirror something like "We are never ever ever getting back together". Adele & Amy both wrote about stupid boys extensively & their lyrics sound much different.

Tusk saw that too (& posted to Haley tweeted me) but posit'ed that it was a commentary rather than the lyrics.
I'm more inclined to believe she's playing it straight here and they are lyrics.

Just a few lines but they sound good to me.
I posted that tweet in the "Haley's Tweet" thread.... I didn't read them as lyrics to a song at all....
I saw that as Haley's way of saying she hesitates posting lyrics or anything about the songs in case it leads to her songs being leaked, in which they would "melt away....Before I could use em".... Or people get her songs for 'free' without her getting compensated for writing/recording them....
You could be right, that she answered with lyrics, as requested, but I read it as Haley being 'cryptically' cautious knowing how many songs of hers have been leaked, and she's made no money from them (10 now?....an album's worth
)Seems she's waiting to complete her EP for leverage before she signs....how would that leverage be if the songs get leaked prematurely?

The whole notion of lyrics, that if shared would melt away, actually being lyrics that are shared ..... is that possible or would they melt away if she tried to share them ?!!!

'Melt away' as in they will no longer be hers, gone, never realised, lost potential....worked on for nothing
(working on the assumption that the EP will be her main bargaining chip when she goes shopping for labels)
Anywho, that's how I read them, and if they end up actually being lyrics to a song then I guess I'm reading too much into it.
Our Halien detectives have found her songs with much less info

I definitely read her tweet to mean "sorry .. I'd jinx the song from coming through by talking about it" sort of thing like a coach won't talk about the game after the one they're about to play.
Still , the whole Mission impossible ...self-destructing lyric concept still has my mind racing.
