The top 9 all should find some place in the music/entertainment industry. That doesn't necessarily mean they can all make it as solo artists but maybe acting or tv event hosting etc. Naima at number 10 was also memorable and nice etc and hopefully she finds a place although I think it might be more as a dancer and she'd probably be better off financially pushing herself through college and becoming an elementary school teacher/music teacher. Music might not be the best financial choice for all of them. It looks like even winner Scotty McCreery knows he has to go to college because, even as an idol winner his odds of making the same kind of same sustained money over his life time as a bond trader or a top 5% level commercial insurance agent is pretty slim. He'll probably milk it into his mid twenties ... not saying he won't work hard at it.. he seems like a very hard working guy which is why he'd make it as a business to business sort of high level sales person (and thats a large part of what investment bankers and mutual fund managers are by the way...need expert knowledge and top level personal presence and a willingness to ask for the business). Still .. all of the finalists were incredibly talented.. and that is a lot of them...and all with a memorable stage presence and special traits of their own. Lazaro apparently has no self respect and there is no limit to the depth he will go to, to embarrass himself. I'm with you. My disgust comes from his work ethic and attitude towards his work ethic. "I don't know that song" .. Well g### da#### go listen to all of the music on you tube. A musician is supposed to know music.. not only the music that they like but ALL music.. Bach, through Joplin through Armstrong through ... hell I won't name them all.... there are certainly hundreds of musicians.. probably near a thousand that he should be familiar with. When I was 18 I could play DeBussy and Puccini, and Stormy Weather, and Lullably of birdland and , Take Five , and Sleigh Ride and Star Wars and Brick house etc on my Saxaphone. My ear knew all the Betoven symphonies and a Dozen Motzart ones... etc. I could play a few Joplin rags on the piano. Never got my piano up to Chopin but I tried a bit before quitting... did play some vince giarli ok. I listened to all of that classic rock 10 years before me.. Knew all the 50's music of my mom's youth and all the frank sinatra style stuff of my dad's youth. I knew all the MGM musicals etc. I knew metal music and Disco and Sca and Modern rock and pop stuff of the 80's too. AND I wasn't even remotley considering myself a musician... ...not remotely ..... I was just an educated kid who was going to go off to college to get a liberal arts education as well as a few dozen business classes in accounting etc. So.. what kind of loser kid working in an Ice-cream store who fancies being a PROFESSIONAL musician dismisses music outside his limitted taste. I can guarantee you that all of the contestants on season 10 knew music far beyond their chosen Genre.... and loved any music. Not just Haley and Casey who are obvious.. but I also know Scotty and Durbin and Lauren Alaina knew music . (bit less sure on how wide Lusk's knowledge was which was why he started getting lost despite his stellar instrument -- but I'm sure he thrived in his high schhool music class and had at least listened to a wide variety of music if not as intently at the others.). I can almost guarantee you that Pia and Lauren knew how to play Clair d' Elise when they were 14 years old taking piano lessons. Beyonce trained in classical opera for half a year I understand (she did a "light" version of opera in the pop song of hers) She(Beyonce) spent enough time in a music conservatory high school to learn all sorts of music. So.. What an arrogant mis-guided, shameless jerk Lazaro is to show no remorse for not being familiar with big hits of the last century (or more). He shouldn't give excuses but apologies. RE: American Idol 2013 - Babbs234 - 04-09-2013 Tusk and Tom, I agree with you on Lazaro. He's an embarrassment for himself and the show, and doesn't seem to know or care about it. It's frustrating that he is the the last guy standing on a show like AI. Remember when JLo was worried when there was only 2 girls left in season 10? Now, noone seems concerned that there may be all girls left standing... or will there be? (if Lazaro continues to slide by) I was reading on the site VFTW today, and they are all happy of course that Lazaro was in the top 3 last week. ![]() RE: American Idol 2013 - midnightblues - 04-09-2013 Top three already? I don't watch AI but hearing bout Larzaro stripping all the gears on the show,.WTF if he wins, what does that tell ya? Smoke and ashes for AI RE: American Idol 2013 - Tusk - 04-09-2013 It's top six, five girls and Lazaro, but he was in the top 3, last week... RE: American Idol 2013 - mercfan3 - 04-09-2013 my prediction, Amber is eliminated next week (they'll put her first or second in performance order) but they'll save her. Laz will go out the following week. RE: American Idol 2013 - Tusk - 04-09-2013 It's possible for Laz to go next. They don't have to use the save, they could just do a non elimination week as a 'surprise' to fill up the additional week, as a 'celebration' for making top five. |
