RE: So I was in NY Today..... - Tusk - 10-09-2012 Another detail I wanted to add that I forgot...this might be the first time a kazzoo and a 'cow bell' were used at a Carnegie performance LOL Also, I think the gentleman who sang most of HTRJ also arrived late to the show. Before I went to the Russian Tea Room restaurant to meet Funglaw, I went to check if Haleyholic was able to get the tickets released to me, this gentleman was in line with me. He was dressed casually, hardly the way you would dress to attend Carnegie. He had a Tambourine with him, with the letters "NOJO" painted on it in different colours....he was joking aloud at how things are so different in N'Orleans, that he hated how fast NY was, to which another guy who was with him, but in a suit, said "Yah, that's why you're waiting in line.."LOL . So maybe that contributed to HTRJ not sounding as .... 'rehearsed' as you might think. You really couldn't make out Haley's vocals for most of the song in the hall either, but it all added to the 'loose' formality that this NOJO event had Regarding Haley paying to perform a song, must have been for "Blues in the Night", but damn it was good. So glad there is audio to listen to, to relive the night ![]() Also, remember when Harry mentioned to Himm2, something like "money comes in money goes out"....Haley is footing the bill for alot of what happens in her career I think (including how many people in her band comes with her). So much we don't know that goes into the process of her performances with finances being a significant part RE: So I was in NY Today..... - midnightblues - 10-09-2012 Do ya think Haley helps pay for her Familys traveling expence? RE: So I was in NY Today..... - Babbs234 - 10-09-2012 (10-09-2012, 04:27 PM)TuskActually, Harry told that to me when I saw him at Akoo when Haley recorded a video in May. He said "the money should be good when she starts getting money from the publishing rights". Haley's mom told me on a separate occasion that the record company had given her like $50,000 last spring when she was doing her radio tour, but that she had to pay all expenses (including band members) with it. And I don't know how long that money was suppose to last ,or if she had to pay it back with proceeds from her cd. But if you think about all the traveling she was doing, with hotels, gas, food etc, who knows how much she actually pocketed. They say its not an easy business. But , it would be nice to know how it really works. ![]() (10-09-2012, 04:56 PM)midnightblues Wrote: Do ya think Haley helps pay for her Familys traveling expence?I was wondering about that myself. Her dad plays with his various bands on Tuesday eves and the weekends, and works a full time day job too. I dont know if her mom works or not. But traveling back and forth to LA and such has got to be a burden on them. I bet she does help out. I remember hearing when Haley was on AI, that the Wheeling community helped with fund raisers to help pay for trips to Los Angeles for the parents . (Firkin says he didn't call in to cancel even though he was in NY this morning) and it was Babbs who was told the $$$ thing. The DVD has the entire 2 hours & 40 minute radio broadcast with appropriate video, slideshow & forum thread scanning. I also added separate HTRJ, BITN, & GBTC recordings with appropriate video plus some other recent odds & ends. I'll try to mail it out tomorrow if I can find your address. RE: So I was in NY Today..... - midnightblues - 10-09-2012 Next stop>>>> Stageit ,in a few days. More Hales to enjoy. RE: So I was in NY Today..... - InItToWinIt - 10-09-2012 Tusk - Thanks so much for the write-ups on the completion of your Haley trifecta. Sounds like a great time. My only concern (other than you sitting dead tired in a hotel lobby, possible lack of ticket, and shuttle bus schenanagins) is the thought of Haley sitting behind you during the concert. I'll think I've seen you picture, shouldn't Angie or someone have offered to swap out with Haley? RE: So I was in NY Today..... - jjames865 - 10-09-2012 Thanks for the recap Tusk. Great read. RE: So I was in NY Today..... - Himm2 - 10-09-2012 Just had a nice evening with Harry Reinhart up at his regular Tuesday gig at Firkin. Their flight back to Chicago left NY at 3PM today, after they had a chance to visit John Lennon's Strawberry Fields for his 72nd birthday celebration. They were up most of the Carnegie Hall night at an Irish Pub with the Abrams so as Harry sat & chatted with me during his 1st set break he yawned 3 times. He also has to go to work tomorrow morning. Anybody got a spare 5 hr energy for Harry? He made a few nice comments about you Tusk. He said Irvin Mayfield took them all out for breakfast the morning of rehearsals and he said Irvin Loves Haley. They were all on cloud nine but back to reality now. Oh I forgot to mention when the convo went from Tusk wanting to hear Wonderland at Stage-it I suggested Lets Run Away but I said you need a Ukelele for that and he said no you can do it on a guitar and he jumped up and grabbed his accoustic and played the full chords for me right there in the restaurant. The Reinhart's have so many big moments preserved because of you and Tusk. Great Job! ![]() RE: So I was in NY Today..... - Tusk - 10-10-2012 (10-09-2012, 07:24 PM)InItToWinIt Wrote: Tusk - Thanks so much for the write-ups on the completion of your Haley trifecta. I'll think I've seen you picture, shouldn't Angie or someone have offered to swap out with Haley?I almost feel sad that the trifecta is over after a year's anticipation. Amazing that they all went as well as they did mostly due to the performer and person Haley is, but also in part to a fair amount of serendipity. -in Spokane (pre trifecta), winning one of 20 tickets to see Haley for the first time, having the ability, with three days notice to drive 600 miles round trip and sit on a couch 5 feet from the stage, meeting Himm2 so I could get my calenders to her (Himm2's ideas to personalize the calendars with "Haley events") so that I had something to talk to Haley about that she would recognise. Asking Haley if the rumours about Carnegie Hall were true (after waiting for her to sign for all the people there), and Haley remembering my name and confirming that Carnegie was a go ![]() -in LA, meeting a friendly elderly couple of Haliens who 'adopted' Buggedout and I for the night for a little better access to Haley during the signing and given a table at the front of the stage so I can get my first Haley concert on video -in Chicago, getting to see Wheeling's Haley spots with Himm2 as my guide, missing a huge thunder/rain storm by one day, that would have wiped out Haley's Lollapalooza show. Having Haley's show be early in the day when it was still cool. The stage she was performing was on grass with a tree covered canvas and a nice cool breeze blowing in from the water and the addition of Babbs who made the last minute decision (despite her husband and daughter's questioning the decision ![]() -in NY Flying back from Lollapalooza AND my laptop contracting a virus forcing me to ask Haleyholic to purchase tickets that put us one row away from the Reinharts, then having the opportunity for our little 'mini' adventure of "Find Haley" after the show, as well as extended time with the wonderful Reinharts.... Phew...what a ride ![]() (PS LOL regarding Haley sitting behind me at Carnegie...I actually had a thought about that. I have a larger than normal head (lots of hair too... hard to find a hat that fits ![]() ![]() ![]() It's not like I'm monstrous looking or anything, I've just never been comfortable with having my picture taken, especially for public (internet) viewing, even before the advent of the "look at me" twitterverse. |
