I also think the Reinharts and maybe Haley would be OK with a small, intimate group of 20 to 30 maybe 40.... when you start talking in the hundreds, then it becomes problematic, not to mention crowd control/security MUST be considered ....safety for antendees and the Reinharts cannot be overlooked. I don't mean to be a downer, I just think that if anything like this were to go forward, these things have to be considered and if Himm2 were willing to offer assistance to that end, it would be unfair to load this type of responsibility on him without considering ALL the variables and parameters that he would have to tackle....it's not as easy as sending out some invitations I tend to think the more people attending, the less 'friendly' or intimate it becomes, which might make the Reinharts think twice about being involved... (We overthinkers can't help but overthink ![]() RE: My Alternate 2012 Universe - My Alter Ego - 01-02-2013 (01-02-2013, 07:21 PM)Tusk Wrote: I worked in the hotel/banquet business for almost two decades so I have a fair idea of the tertiary considerations for putting together an event like this, especially if you are talking about the numbers mentioned. Well, duh -- go figure! ![]() Years ago, I used to organize events (small scale) -- really loved it. But that was once a upon a time, many years ago... (And, yes, folks, if you think that last sentence sounds a line from a song, you are correct!) Tusk, you're right. Something like this, particularly if the number of attendees was as large as some of the numbers that have been bounced around here, would require a great deal of effort to organize, and would likely have significant ramifications regarding the participation of the "guests of honor/stars of the show." Lets take a vote IM in ( it's a starting point 0 ![]() ![]() RE: My Alternate 2012 Universe - rmd1064 - 01-03-2013 Lets take a vote IM in ( it's a starting point 0 ![]() ![]() Well...my .02. While it would be great to meet a lot of fellow Haliens in a small setting, to move the needle for me to spend the $$$ to come to Chicago for several days, I would want to see Haley perform with a band in a bar/venue setting. Maybe it is just a concert event with her Dad's band, in a local pub, as long as it was formally announced and a date set. The Haliens would all still be able to gather together and hopefully she would meet and greet folks too. Something like that seems possible, given her Dad's long time connections around town playing in bars/clubs. We're not set up to be the promoter of this event held locally in Wheeling. If 30,000 attended her homecoming at the Arlington Racetrack in the rain, albeit was free, then can 300 people be found in Chicago to attend a Haley concert with a cover charge? Someone (probably in Harry's network) should be able to figure out the upside of Haley performing at their establishment. So we add 25-30 of us from HF.com (private get together at Himm's also) to the mix and now how many Chicago natives would be willing to pay a $20-50 cover charge to hear Haley play multiple sets in her home town? Rely on the locals for organizing...we can be part of the network promoting it though. I'm not sure why Haley would not want to perform in her home town in front of her fans for a paying gig...maybe you know? ![]() RE: My Alternate 2012 Universe - Babbs234 - 01-03-2013 I think it would have to be done over a period of time that we know Haley might be home. for example, Christmas holidays, Thanksgiving, July 4th. She seems to be home a lot for holiday time. It would be harder for fans to come over holidays but she has been home for 2 weeks now, and it could be worked out I think. I do agree 300 seems like a lot. There are a lot of lurkers here. ya never know who might come. And I dont think people would mind paying. After all we've seen her for free for so long. We could call it a benefit for her or something. A private party at Himms is a good idea too! (sorry Himm) Our own Haleypalooza!! ![]() ![]() In the end, we have to wait for Himm to get home. He's the main connection. I have to laugh thinking of him reading all this. hehe RE: My Alternate 2012 Universe - Tusk - 01-03-2013 (01-03-2013, 10:18 AM)buzzenator Wrote: Yes, I would say you were OT a little...I also did event planning. I'm not sure why Haley would not want to perform in her home town in front of her fans for a paying gig...maybe you know? This began as a "small" gathering among HF in Himm's backyard with an informal invite for the Reinharts to attend...not a major concert gathering... That was what Patti said she thought would be fun and she would attend... Like the one Nug refered to with Melinda Dolittle...That's what I'm speaking of. What you are now refering to is a much bigger event requiring the 'locals' participation and investment of time and money which they would have to volunteer as well as promote ... ![]() ![]() (Besides, how to know who/how many will attend?...that affects venue size, how much to charge, security, parking etc... what if they prepare and spend money expecting say 2000, and only 50 show up?...or conversely, they set up for 300 and 1000 show? It would be the 'locals' taking the 'hit' if things go awry....) For the 'locals' and their leaders to get involved, there would need to be a 'payoff' of sorts (money made), for their investment of time and money, and with the unanswered variables of number of possible attendees and venue size, convincing them to set it up won't be easy, if at all. If we are coming to Chicago it's not just for the polish sausage, we do want to hear Haley perform and more than a couple of songs. We're not going to get a guarantee that Haley will perform for 20-30 of us in Himm's backyard. If we do, then the big gathering is not needed. However, why is Haley performing in Himm's backyard? To be realistic it has to be a paying gig, and the more that pay the better for Haley. It seems logical that the event needs to be bigger to make it a worthwhile trip for Haliens. Three things I learned while at Haley House...1-take your meds everyday; 2-rotate your tires; 3-this Haley addiction is not cheap! ![]() |
