I have a feeling this might be different, for a couple reasons:
-Will Haley repeat the same Jazz standards type performance as last time? We have little experience of Haley performing full concerts consecutively. Last time in LV, she came with different playlist each night. (adding/subtracting one or two songs each night). I think there's a good chance, especially because Haley has shown she likes to 'mix it up', that she won't be repeating..
-Haley's recent interviews highlighting that she will be going edgier on her next project. Her two song camps, and the underwhelming of LU makes me think that she will already have shifted into a 'different' mind set than the one she had going into LU. Besides, this will be a good way to test out anything new on a small audience. If anything like last time (almost 60 songs), she will get to experiment, on stage, to a core fan group. A soft landing to try new stuff?
-Who will accompany her? Apparently, Keith is almost done with his studio project that has had him MIA the last 3 weeks or so. How long is Courtney contracted to P2's tour? John has been touring on shows as well, for how long? Keith is likely to accompany her as not only is he more likely to be available, he is incredibly versatile, so if Haley decides to go with something different, stylistically, she could count on Keith to be able to 'keep up'. Will Haley throw John a bone if he's available? I would be up to hear John free style the way Haley let Keith and Courtney solo last time
The make up of her musicians might influence what and how she performs...
-Edit: I see Casey is free on those dates.... he has a show on the 18th in Idylwild at noon, but it would solve Haley's 'who accompanies' question. Noon would make it tight, but LV is a quick flight.... Yeah probably reaching
Of course, the above is idle conjecture.
Most likely, because IT IS LV, IT IS the Cosmopolitan AND Haley and Keith (who I expect to, at least, be there, if not Courtney) are so Damn good at Jazz, it will be another jazz set with different Jazz standards sprinkled with LU songs (gotta play the favorites for the fans
I can't believe that Haley would have accepted this gig without having the backup musicians in place. While it will be a surprise (or maybe not) to us, she and her musicians know.
It would be great if Mr. Keith Phelps, he of dazzling solos and a fabulous, if sometimes goofy, smile were there! I, too, wondered about Casey. Sometime earlier this year, I believe I made a post that I'd love to hear them as a trio. The music those three could make together could possibly be spellbinding, at least for a jazz enthusiast like me. (Imagine this peeps: Haley and Casey re-creating that incredible duet of L.O.V.E. that they performed in February, with Mr. "Magic Fingers" Keith on keyboard? O.! M.! G.! )
O.K. so now the only thing I've truly managed to do is make me envious of those of you headed for this Vegas gig!

Man, I sure wish they would add Haley to the events calender already. I check evrrday and have yet to get any satisfaction. Once I do see it though... you can bet my little swan heart will go pitter-pat.

The Cosmo told me usually, if acts are 'free' they don't get posted until a couple weeks before their show...
I've already booked for that weekend since I've heard a couple things that make me think that's it's pretty much happening

Well, I think I am finally going to take the plunge. It has been my dream to experience Haley live. I was considering going to the Halien Party that Himm2 is so graciously setting up and organizing. I was going to ask if I could go being a newbie and only part-time poster. Then Haley’s Cosmopolitan gig came up. Unfortunately my budget cannot support the Chicago trip and this one to Las Vegas. Furthermore I don’t travel and as I mentioned in my intro to this site I am introverted. So either visit is hard for me, but Haley is very special and is the perfect reason to overcome my trepidation. I emailed Chiara and she replied that Haley will be appearing at the Chandelier on August 15-17.
As much as I want to see all of my fellow Haliens at BG Days and in Wheeling, I’ve decided, and it was a hard decision, to go to the Cosmopolitan. I know some of you will be in Las Vegas to see Haley as well and I am looking forward to the pleasure of meeting you and I hope you will feel the same about me. If Haley’s performance is anything like her show back in December that Tusk fabulously recorded, I will be “Walking on Heaven”. 3 nights of Haley’s music variety especially my favorite Haley jazz will be beyond belief. I think she will include jazz standards in the Chandelier ambiance. I’m thrilled that Keith will be playing with Haley. I hope Haley has the caliber of bass player as Courtney. Yes, Casey would be the ideal choice.
I do regret not being able to hear Haley’s family perform. Although meeting the whole family would make me even more nervous. If the Halien Party becomes an annual event, then I may have other opportunities.

Very cool, ISCAT4HALEY! I'm glad you decided to go to the Cosmo show. Let me tell ya, the show there is spectacular and, in my mind, the ideal way to see Haley. Believe you me, as wonderful as Tusk's vids were they didn't fully express the radiant wonderfulness of the live experience.
I'm also happy about the part where you emailed Chiara. More confirmation is a good thing.

Me too, I'm not usually adept at 'crowd situations', but as you have just found out, Haley is as good a reason to 'join the fun' as anyone.
I'm usually the guy sipping on his drink in the corner, then I found out that when you are among a group of people ready to have fun and be entertained and to have Haley be the one that is providing the entertainment, the 'trepidation' dissolves.
In all of my trips (except the first), I've met one or two 'known' fans, which was ok, as it's personal, greeting, kind of thing. Among a group, it turns out, is the same, when it comes to Haley.
I was on two weeks notice about to go to a party in another state, a party organized by folks I had just met once in Las Vegas, and all their friends. I was anxious until I entered and was greeted by a very friendly and boisterous crowd of people I had never met..... not exactly the actions of an introvert.....
Before I knew it, this, 'usually stands in the corner' guy was having a blast during a party centered around Haley, everyone so excited for the show...
You'll have a great time, Haley's like that
