Shame on you Casey put your bass in a case, but the dings and scratches do add character. Shows you've bin on the road with it.

Midnight, he couldn't put it in the airplane cargo without one -- it would be destroyed in a nanosecond! Where would you put something that large in the cabin??? And can you imagine going through security with that???? If "Mafioso" carry violin cases to hide a destructive force, can you imagine what could be hidden in a case that size???

When Casey came to MD for a show last fall --he tweeted and asked if anyone in the area had an upright bass he could borrow. I remember wondering if anyone would notice the tweet and lend him one. I was hoping so because I wanted to hear him play.
When I got to venue--I saw that someone came through for him
Anyway, in the middle show Casey somehow struck up a conversation with some guy in the audience. I can't remember exactly how it all went down--he may have called out for someone to bring a beer to the stage. Or, he could have asked if anyone knew how to play bass or knew a certain song. Or, it could have even been a pretend heckler. Can't remember--but it was done in a humorous, cool way. So, of course, the guy who lent him the bass started playing it and he did a few songs with the band.I've also noticed that he has tweeted out to borrow a bass for at least another show or maybe more. In NYC, I'm pretty sure he was using Zac Greenberg's bass who played bass in the Orchestra of People vid. He was there and played bass at the show for a couple of songs
ETA-- I was wondering when you all had dinner with him if he mentioned any future plans like an EP or new cd

Lauraliz, Sorry but I didn't find out any new info from Casey. Remember, I was "with the band", hehe so I wasn't doggin him for info. Before the show, Penny and I were able to just walk into the theater and watch him play for his sound check. We introduced ourselves, and Penny told Casey that the Reinharts were coming to the show. that's the first he knew of it. Patti did say that had Casey called 5 minutes before, Harry could have brought his guitar with him. So I know Harry didn't bring any instruments for Casey.
Funny story...Somehow some people in the row behind us thought I was Casey's publicist or something. they were told to talk to "Barbara", and a lady introduced herself to me after the show, gave me her card. I was like, No, No, you have the wrong person. hehe
After the show, Casey signed autographs, took pictures with fans, and there were cds and tshirts for sale. They were different from the smiley face ones- these were black with a pic of a stand up bass on the front and "I'm casey and I play the bassy" written on the bottom in white. Nice
We took pics with Casey and talked with Blake Lewis. Blake was a nice young man. very polite, courteous. He was in town to judge an acapella contest at a high school (Niles West) that was close to where Casey was playing. So he came by after his gig was over.
I did ask Casey how Haley learned to play the hand trumpet. But he didn't really answer. I asked him if they had rehearsed it before the show and he said "a little". I didnt want to ask too much. Just told him I loved the show etc.

Thx for all the cool pics and recap Babbs! I actually meant if he happened to mention anything about future plans at dinner. (As long as he wasn't saying it in confidence). I never have asked him about future plans because it's little awkward if he doesn't have any set in stone or lined up. So, what I guess I'm trying to say is--I didn't mean if u asked him--just if he was letting people know that a new cd or something was in the works
Tusk --thanks for the link to the podcast. I think he was pretty vague on any real info. But, I guess that is the way it seems to be in the music business.
