RE: Next album will be blusier - Himm2 - 05-30-2013 I can't think of any guitar player that is better than Harry Reinhart. Hopefully this is the beginning of a great new record deal for her! She is too smart and too talented for that. I don't think she will either. But I do believe when she says "the production has really differed lately" it means she is working with people who manipulate music in contemporary ways. And the confidence she refers to means being bold enough to do something strikingly different than what her fans expect of her. RE: Next album will be blusier - Tom22 - 05-30-2013 As for and "Edgier" album this kind of general -- vaguely general, not precisely general - direction might be cool I think part of it is the guitar influence I posted this one below and so did midnight, but Notto's friend Josh has some crazy natural feel for the blues in a rocking way that would really flavor things in a different direction for _one_ album. Also.. I thought of that song above probably in part because Keith would fit in too if you hear the keyboard and it might help him grow in a more rock way himself. edit : to be clear Josh does not play with Grace Potter, and also I don't suggest he -replace- notto.. but play alongside or something... see the link midnight put in the next post. To be honest.. I don't think it is really Haley's forte . Her "trackable" songs seem to really shine even if some of them are more suited for ads or movies than a direct approach to popularity via radio play. (when I say "shine" i mean stand a clearer step ABOVE others in the same niche.. as opposed to being as good as the best) She can do an amazing variety of things though and every exploration gives hones and even lifts and opens other avenues of expression she can bring into other songs of different styles. (another point... I love her Dad as a guitar player too.. at least all I've heard, ... but the dynamic of having your father around has got to limit the heat and lust underlying even less explicit lyrics ( "stuff like that there" from the 1940's was about a "hot and bothered" as any dirty recent song..even if each individual word isn't vulgar)) RE: Next album will be blusier - midnightblues - 05-30-2013 I do kike Josh style and IMO he is a little more schooled than Notto but they both set the stage as young guitarist. Here is a sample of the both of them Jamming. Lets party RE: Next album will be blusier - Tom22 - 05-30-2013 (05-30-2013, 12:57 PM)midnightblues Wrote: I do kike Josh style and IMO he is a little more schooled than Notto but they both set the stage as young guitarist. The video above is a great example of how a guy like Josh playing that sort of deep "bluesy" sound can work up a "rhythm" for a lack of a better word, for the whole band. Notto really shines there and I think he draws on Josh while going confidently his own way in a much more "rock" way (not that the distinction is some bright line). Like you, I won't get into a better or worse thing even if josh might be more likely to stand a this for that match in some competition sort of thing. Look at the video around 2:07.. first the Bassist then Gooch say something to the drummer perhaps suggesting they wanted him to adjust his approach to something slightly lighter ... these things are subtle but vitally important... he backs off his emphasis on the down beat ever so slightly the way I read it as well as being slightly more quiet. (I also edited my first post to be clear that I think keith could also grow from the experience if he's going to be part of a performing band long term if Haley does go the long term touring route) Can you imagine Haley singing in front of that band? I think it could be really cool.. even it doesn't show exactly what she is at her highest peak at I like all sorts of music and I like that kind of music sometimes and I'd like to hear Haley singing that sort of music sometimes as I'd get both! (or at least see what she did with it .. maybe it doesn't work.. who knows but I'm curious to hear it , thats for sure) Anyway.. that was cool and cool to see that side of Notto when in that surrounding. RE: Next album will be blusier - makefigure8s - 05-30-2013 Not sure the band is still "together" or not. Another option at WB is 143. Would be cool if she had her own imprint though. RE: Next album will be blusier - Miguel - 05-30-2013 2001: "Warner Music Group is closing its money-losing 143 Records operation this week, music industry sources said." http://articles.latimes.com/2001/sep/20/business/fi-47699 RE: Next album will be blusier - makefigure8s - 05-30-2013 Until recently it was 143/Reprise Records (not sure if 143 existed independently recently). Correction: 143 was a label under Reprise Records until at least 2011; not sure if it still exists. ^ But Foster left WB for Verve / UMG in 2011 Edit: But still might be a good match RE: Next album will be blusier - Miguel - 05-30-2013 I guess the head of Haley's legal team isn't hammering out a deal as we speak.
