I posted this one below and so did midnight, but Notto's friend Josh has some crazy natural feel for the blues in a rocking way that would really flavor things in a different direction for _one_ album. Also.. I thought of that song above probably in part because Keith would fit in too if you hear the keyboard and it might help him grow in a more rock way himself.

edit : to be clear Josh does not play with Grace Potter, and also I don't suggest he -replace- notto.. but play alongside or something... see the link midnight put in the next post.



To be honest.. I don't think it is really Haley's forte . Her "trackable" songs seem to really shine even if some of them are more suited for ads or movies than a direct approach to popularity via radio play. (when I say "shine" i mean stand a clearer step ABOVE others in the same niche.. as opposed to being as good as the best)

She can do an amazing variety of things though and every exploration gives hones and even lifts and opens other avenues of expression she can bring into other songs of different styles.

(another point... I love her Dad as a guitar player too.. at least all I've heard,
... but the dynamic of having your father around has got to limit the heat and lust underlying even less explicit lyrics ( "stuff like that there" from the 1940's was about a "hot and bothered" as any dirty recent song..even if each individual word isn't vulgar))

30CamdenSquare, you raised a good many interesting points, all of which may prove correct, but I'm responding specifically and only to the last paragraph, because there may be other factors at play, of which we are unaware.

You state that Haley likes to play close to the vest but provide little teasers to keep us hooked. I think it makes perfect sense to not be more forthcoming, and it may have little to do with "creating buzz."

First, should a deal NOT be arranged with a specific label, she's kept her options open for others (i.e. hasn't "slammed the door shut") and also avoids embarrassment/discomfort for herself (and, perhaps, the named label) if/when it becomes public.

Second, there may be some sort of "confidentiality" code in effect that the players are aware of, but we aren't. I work in the world of higher education, and for at least the last 25 years leaders of universities (typically the president or chancellor) have to be exceeding cautious and discreet if they are courted by or are remotely interested in pursuing a position at a different institution. If the boards of the institutions (that they are currently head of) find out, they can be fired -- immediately, even if they weren't necessarily getting the other position.

All of the points that you mentioned may be right, and speculation is fun, but it can end up like the children's game wherein something is whispered in the ear of the first kid and then 30 kids later, the last one is supposed to say out loud the message he/she heard -- and, it's rarely close to what was original message.

Therefore, I applaud Haley for her discretion and the way she's been handling herself since released by InterScope.
