I agree with all of that Himm - that song was a rediculous choice!! I think the only reason they chose it is because Alanis has a slight yodel or breaking sound in her voice (not sure if there's a technical term for it) that Haley can easily duplicate. I hated that choice for her for those exact reasons you stated

Himm, you are spot on. That is something I would like to discuss with Haley and get her thoughts and hear her history. I was mad about that because it cast her as the angry girl and that was the exact opposite of what she wanted. I really want to know whose idea that was (a judge or someone else) and why they chose it (manipulation or just a bad idea).

That is one of my all time favorite songs of all time.
But it's a horrible song choice for a singing competition. Lyrically..you are essentially belting "I am an angry, scary, promiscuous woman"..repeatedly. Which goes over well with the voting audience...
And for Haley...that song was keyed a little too low for her..to the point where she kind of talks the main verses.

The show should've ended with the Zeppelin song. I remember watching that night and everything after that wasn't at that level. I still think there was some producers manipulation going on big time.
RE: S10 - Himm2 - 05-05-2015
another little ironic realization tidbit from S10 I just discovered. When Haley sang her first live song "FALLIN" she steps down and then back up singing the lyric "I keep on FALLIN" on the same top step that she ended up "FALLIN" on while singing "WI&WSNB" in her last live competition show of the season (See @ 4:20):
Amazing Irony don't ya think? Now that Youtube autoruns related videos, I find myself watching Haley videos that I forgot about.

On this same subject, during Carol King's " I feel the earth move", she is singing "tumblin' down" while climbing and looking down at the very step she would fall from a few weeks later...... now we have two omens.
RE: S10 - mercfan3 - 05-05-2015
We didn't really need Omens. Haley ran around that stage like a champ in HEELS in every performance. It was going to happen.

Anyone notice how the judges always stood up for contestants after they were eliminated(right away), except Haley? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XJX1ldixwCI

In their defense, she did play the part of a crazy stalker who might have a knife in Top 4 week with I Who Have Nothing. Than the night before she acted out scratching her nails with You Oughta Know. They probably were a little scared

Well, after her elimination Haley pointed out that Randy and J-Lo were so spaced out. That might explain it.
