Luckily, it was salvageable (In making the DVD's I was supposed to send to the Reinharts, I discovered why I had so much trouble with the files...for some reason, the audio track was longer than the video track which was why I initially couldn't put the files together without a noticeable video gap and a loud click... I was able to fix it on the DVDs)
Thinking about if Haley ever gets 'big' in the future, that might be the best footage of her at Lolla, so I knew that the distortion was not acceptable. (Turns out, the 'best' video will be Hiphopgamer's marriage of Himm2's video and my audio
)Thank goodness there was another band that played before Haley so I was made aware of the potential audio issue and had that decision to make .....

I mean... She performed on a stage that had a natural canopy of branches and trees to shade us, it was grassy and we were near enough to the water to get a cool breeze blowing in. The other bands we saw were performing in large dirt areas that were dusty and exposed to the sun.
She performed early when everyone was still coming in so it wasn't crowded (or as filthy with garbage as it was by the time Black Sabbath played) and we were able to 'stake out' our spot, and the temperature was very comfortable...
AND
We missed a MAJOR storm by one day. Himm2 told me there was a chance it would hit on Friday, and we would have missed her Lolla debut
Everything fell into place that day

It was a lot of hard work...and a lot of over thinking went into it, but good over thinking.
From my perspective the best audio and video that we get of Haley has been the more intimate settings. The giant black box speaker banks, are not present...so the heavy bass and distortion is gone. There are a few exceptions and usually it is when the host does the filming and in-house sound. Some of the radio station vids are great...I still think the Cities97 videos of 'Keep Coming Back' and 'Wasted Tears' at Lord Fletcher's in MN are some of the best, in terms of closeup and sound quality. Intimate is good...Haley unplugged...bigger is not better, unless we get something like the Muhammad Ali gig!
Lolla was big, Tusk and other Haliens went yard and we got some great footage of the size and scope of this event...however, it wasn't the best of Haley. I know that sounds sacrilegious, but that is just my unqualified Halien opinion...sorry. The great thing is we have so much material to work with...a huge quantity of videos in a little over one year...we're somewhat spoiled.

I knew the audio would be as bad as you suggested Tusk but I just couldn't stand being that far away from the Reinhart Visual Phenomenon. Thank You so much for saving the day for me and taking one for the team. That team including hiphopgamer.

...not quite fair to compare a fan camcorder video to a post-produced professionally made video like the one in Minnesotta
I would have loved...and expected, a professionally produced video of her performances in Chicago at Lolla, but for some reason, they didn't do it, so.........

However, on the tighter aspect in Philly...thought the band sounded like they had practiced more. The new drummer...the build-up for the event was that it was supposed to be a Rock Show. I think they went at it with a heavier sound to the drums, more front and center because of the expectations. Haley unplugged was not going to work for this event. This was a Rock-n-Roll tour show...with the rest of the Playtone Galaxy of Stars!!!

See bolded statement (above): this might also explain the heavy handedness on bass as well, although from what we can hear, to me, it just sounds like the individual "doing knobs" (as in working the soundboards) favored bass and drums, which given this is Lollapalooza" and the "Rock & Roll Marathon" makes sense -- it's not pleasant, but makes sense.
