I used to play the heck out of that thing, even putting it on repeat during car trips. Every song is wonderful. Recently I even bought a 200 gram virgin vinyl LP edition that A-MAZ-ING. Unfortunately, after the first album my interest fell away from Norah quickly. The later albums never recaptured the magic of the first one for me. It seems to me that being a superstar would not be a very satisfying day to day existence. My impression is that Haley is enjoying her life one day at a time... ![]() RE: Listen Up! 2013 perspective - Tusk - 03-18-2013 (03-18-2013, 03:59 PM)cherelann Wrote: Hopefully I will one day be able to see Haley perform in a smaller venue with great acoustics. Simple and intimate settings allow for a connection between performer and audience that cannot be duplicated in a stadium.I've been trying to get her up here, most recently in LA ![]() (Or maybe she just enjoys having me follow her around the U$A ![]() ![]() That's me always a sucker for a pretty face, who happens to be a Once in a Generation 'Artiste' ![]() ![]() RE: Listen Up! 2013 perspective - kaypea - 03-18-2013 (03-18-2013, 12:41 PM)Swansteel Wrote: ^^Tom22, I loved (and still love) Norah's first album as well. Agreed on Norah. She's one of my favorite voices but after the first album I'm not crazy about most of her songs. But she loves to collaborate and some of her best stuff has been with people like Willie Nelson,Ray Charles and Bonnie Raitt.Haley has shown that she excels at that too so I'd love to see more of that from her moving forward. It would be a perfect opportunity for you, MAE and me to put a face to our names while enjoying a Haley experience... For now I think it's just going to be just like any other part of the US. ![]() She will stay in and around LA, maybe Chicago when she's back home, and make a trip here or there for big $ponsored Events, like Fox International and the gig in Okinawa... Even private events would have to be of a 'corporate'/for charity nature, I think, to get her to perform outside of LA. She has to be wise with incoming and outgoing finances, given that she is unsigned. If we're lucky, she might get to do something like she did with Allen Stone, hook onto someone's tour, that would definitely be when to jump on tickets. (although, not the intimacy types of venues) Don't forget, Himm2 has been doing work, finding out what he can in Wheeling ![]() At least LA isn't that far away from WA so, maybe keep an eye out for an upcoming performance that coincides with something else you can do in CA (relatives, business trip, holiday). Heck, even Vegas wasn't a bad (relatively cheap) trip to take from here. I jumped on Lolla the moment I heard it was happening, because back then I didn't think I could see Haley, at all, and knew I was guaranteed to see her there. All I'm saying is, When she gets bigger, those intimate shows will be few and far between as demand for her grows. So don't wait too long, if there is the slightest of opportunities, I would grasp it before it's too late ![]() RE: Listen Up! 2013 perspective - Swansteel - 03-18-2013 ^For me, the Las Vegas residency was the all-around perfect Haley Experience: three nights of music in a row in the town where I live, free admission, nice long and varied sets, plenty of opportunities to interact with Haley at different times and a chance to hang out with some wonderful fellow Haliens. That was an experience I will hold near to my heart for as long as I live. It is hard to imagine anything getting any better than that wonderful weekend. I mean, lunch with Haley would be pretty swell, but that is beginning to seem like something that will never happen, at least for me. Anything I get to enjoy in the future will be icing on the cake.
