My guess would be that they did intend to record the full version at the start, so they would have editing options for the commercial.

Possibly, since this is a major advertising initiative they may plan on using the song in an ongoing manner.

But there was never a full version of "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" that Haley recorded for a Walmart spot (827 nat'l airings) or the recording she made for the Japanese ad.

At first I pictured her as a teacher, but I think the "kids" are just younger people in her workplace.
