My next project is to use all that I've learned from my software since I first posted the Lollapalooza vids to make a LollaPalooza concert vid using Himm2's and my vids.
Mostly based on Steve's video, I will edit some of my video onto his, trimming up the pacing, keeping the focus on Haley and the stage. In addition, Steve posted a video that used audio from my Lolla vids dubbed (by Hiphopgamer) onto Steve's so there's a degradation of the audio through the compression and posting process.
This video will have clearer audio (from the original source, my file, rather than the youtube source Hihopgamer used, also I did a better job repairing "Spiderweb"'s audio, where the file was split), as well as put out in higher resolution than previously posted. The biggest improvement will be that I understand a little more how to use Image Stabilization, which I'm applying to the video in certain shots, to minimize, sometimes eliminating the shaking, which really helps the overall video ) I'm really pleased at how much the function has improved the look of the video.
I've got the basic outline and clips in place, now it's just a matter of going in and adjusting each clip, editing out unnecessary parts of the scene, putting better focus on the subject matter by zooming into them.
I've yet to decide if I want to 'take on' doing some kind of specialized intro, something like a short history of the run up to the show, like showing she's the 1st AI contestant to be invited to Lolla, maybe that she signed w/ Interscope, on the BMI stage etc... but I haven't figured out how to present it within my limited experience making videos, yet.... I may just do a standard video intro, but a quick, more informative intro to the event and it's significance, at the time, to her in her career.
The other consideration about doing some kind of intro to the vid is what music do I use? I kind of want to use bits and pieces of Beatles' songs, but I worry that might cause the YouTube copyright bots to put some kind of block or hold onto the entire vid because I used a few seconds from a Beatles' song. I'd hate to put in the hours only to get the whole video blocked because I used a few seconds of someone else's music (I'm actually surprised WIAWSNB hasn't been found in some kind of violation, Zeppelin has been known to be pretty tough w/ it's songs posted on YT
)I haven't decided yet if I want to use audio clips of her Interviews about Lolla in this intro yet, due to 'rights' issues...tho no one who'd care might notice
I've finished with the first 3 songs, Wasted Tears, Hit the Ground Running and Walking on Heaven... six more to go and the (possible) intro. I feel like I want to post "Walking on Heaven" (with both my and Steve's clips edited) ..as a teaser video, perhaps post them, one at the beginning of each week.... But another part of me wants to wait until the whole 40 minutes (estimated length) is done before I post any performances from it.... (eventually I want to post each performance individually then post the entire concert, start to finish). Thoughts? Post as they get done or wait 'til the whole concert is done to post?

Here's "Walking On Heaven" with Himm2's and my vids combined. The video clips have each had image stabilization applied to them so there's much less shaking.
I've got the skeleton of the concert video arranged, now it's just a matter of going in framing the shots and tweeking them, best I'm able. Seeing if I can improve the audio will be the last thing i do, but it's also the thing I'm least familiar with.

The quality is fabulous Tusk, even without my orignal digitals. The only thing I feel funny about is clicking on the "play" button in the middle of Haley's chest to get her started
...but for me at least it's not a touch screen.

I'm having fun reliving that day, I can't believe, almost 3 years ago (wtf?)
I can't believe what a difference Image Stabilisation makes to the video! I wish I knew about it before. Even on clips with minimal shake, once processed, looks better.
(The reason I hadn't paid much attention to that function is it's processor intensive, when I used to try it earlier, it would often crash my computer, why I want a new one. Since I had the epiphany of applying it to clips, rather than entire HD videos, my old computer can handle the processing better
)The best thing is how I'm able to salvage some shots to use, even clips with significant shaking. It made the close up shots, like in "Oh My". They are great close ups, especially when Haley raps, and with image stabilization, it's a much more stable, therefore, more enjoyable sequence.
My question to you guys, how is the audio? I know it could be much better, but imo I don't think it's that bad. I ask because I got some New audio software that I want to wait to load onto a new computer that can handle video editing better than the computer I currently use. I think the software only allows one install per computer, I'd prefer to load onto a newer computer.
Also, I've no experience working with audio other than the basics I've used on my video editing software, so it could take some time to learn the software so I can best improve the audio.
If not for the indecision of whether to wait on learning the audio software well enough to make a positive difference, the video editing would take no time to put out.
Maybe, for now, I should post individual songs and wait to put the full concert out for if/when I'm able to learn, then apply any improvements to the audio?
Btw, I want to post Oh My, Steve's closeups, with the application of image stabilization, really enhances the fun of Haley's first performance of that song

Thanks so much Tusk for putting this up. I've been away so long due to taking care of 2 ailing parents. Both have passed away (one just recently) and it's been rough. But throughout all of this, I have managed to keep up with Haley's journey. So proud of her! I am a huge rock fan and just love this video! But I bought tickets for the Toronto PMJ show because I really do like what I have seen/heard of that band, and can only hope, at this point, that Haley and/or Casey will join them in Toronto this June. If not, such is life. Everyone's efforts, in this blog, have meant so darn much to me during this difficult time. A great distraction...I can't even begin to tell you. Thanks to all of you who have made the effort to go to Haley's shows/made videos and thanks, even, to those who have commented. It's kept me going.
I am not musically inclined, btw, unlike so many of you. I can only say that I like what I hear, and have been mesmerized by Ms. Reinhart since I first heard her sing. My husband introduced me to her on American Idol and I have been hooked ever since. Thanks again for all of the updates. You are a great group of people that I hope to meet one day.
