RE: Jena Irene Asciutto - john - 07-10-2014 These are the numbers from the Season 10 tour in 2011, not including Philippines (per wiki): Quote:Number of shows - 49 (24 sold out) Some additional notes and comments Quote:The tour attendance rebounded after the poor turn-out for the Season 9 tour. 16 of the first 24 shows were sold out, and more than 97% its tickets has been sold through its first 14 dates with an average venue size of 8,100....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Idols_LIVE!_Tour_2011 The numbers for the 2012 tour are presented as follows Quote:Number of shows - 46 (3 sold out)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Idols_LIVE!_Tour_2012 The 2013 tour was a bit of a disaster. For example, only 32% of the tickets were sold in Louisville, and 37% in Newark (in 2011 Haley and friends did two nights in Newark). Quote: The tour was scheduled to begin on June 29, 2013 in St. Louis, Missouri and ended on August 31, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee. So it begins. The American Idol Live 2014 concert scheduled for the Times Union Center in Albany, NY on Wednesday, June 25, has been cancelled. It was the second date of the tour. RE: Jena Irene Asciutto - My Alter Ego - 07-10-2014 ^^I wonder who's filling in for backup Dexter was providing. He's been AWOL from the show for some days, and has been released from his Idol contract. http://www.mjsbigblog.com/dexter-roberts-let-out-of-his-american-idol-contract.htm RE: Jena Irene Asciutto - john - 07-10-2014 (07-10-2014, 08:04 PM)My Alter Ego Wrote: ^^I wonder who's filling in for backup Dexter was providing. Quote:World Deer Expo @WorldDeerExpo Jul 2 RE: Jena Irene Asciutto - Swansteel - 07-10-2014 LOL. Wow!! He's doing the Deer Expo? That IS exciting! Haw haw. Yep. There is no live band, just a music track. I also read that between sets everything just stops while stage hands meander around the stage. I've read a couple of times that the only singer who shows any star potential is Jena. Everyone else is said to be lucky to have this opportunity to sing before an audience. It seems highly unlikely that he was released so that he could attend a "meet and greet." I wonder (not to the point of losing sleep over it, mind you) if the wild and rampant speculation led to the news finally being released. (07-10-2014, 10:13 PM)Swansteel Wrote: LOL. Wow!! I still think that Sam has a great deal of potential and that if he follows through in going to school at Berklee, he could come out of that shell. I don't imagine that he'll ever become the male version of Jena, but then I listen to classical music and jazz -- I don't need to be entertained. I want to hear exceptionally good music performed exceptionally well. RE: Jena Irene Asciutto - mercfan3 - 07-11-2014 I still say there was something special about MK's voice when she hit the stage. She was more terrified on stage than Sam, but when she'd get it right..it wasn't that it was brilliant...it was just..very touching. I think JLo said that about her. That she just feels something when MK sings..and that's just not true of everyone. I think, with her and Sam especially, it was really a shame that they didn't seem to have people helping them improve. There is something lovely, fragile and very touching about her when she had the right song. There is, of course, an exceedingly good chance that empathized with her nervousness a bit much. RE: American Idol 2014 - Himm2 - 07-11-2014 Things aren't looking good for the Summer Idol Tour. No Backing band?? Yikes!!: Dexter Roberts No Longer on the American Idol Live! Tour Lyndsey Parker By Lyndsey Parker July 10, 2014 1:28 AM Reality Rocks Dexter Roberts, the country singer who placed seventh on the most recent season of American Idol, has mysteriously disappeared from this summer's American Idol Live! concert tour, which began June 24 in Binghamton, New York. And apparently, he's not coming back. The fan site MJsBigBlog.com was the first outlet to report on Dexter's vanishing act, noting that he hadn't performed on the tour since at least July 1. But no official statement had been made about Dexter's whereabouts, or whether or not he'd be rejoining his fellow Idols on the road any time soon. Fans speculated that Dexter was sick or having vocal issues, but now a source close to the Idol camp tells Yahoo Music's Reality Rocks that "both parties mutually agreed that he would be released from his contractual obligations to continue performing on the tour." No further explanation was given. Considering that Dexter will be appearing at Birmingham, Alabama's World Deer Expo July 18 through 20, it seems safe to rule out illness as the reason for his departure... although fourth-place finalist Jessica Meuse did tell a fan on Twitter earlier this week that Dexter's absence was health-related. Whatever the reason, hopefully fans who bought tickets to hear Dexter sing "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" or "Muckalee Creek Water" (his two solo numbers on the original setlist) will be content with just watching the performances by the other nine contestants. And if Dexter has dropped out of the tour due to illness, here's wishing him a speedy recovery... otherwise he'll have to miss that Deer Expo, too. This is not the only setback for this year's American Idol Live! tour. For the first time in the tour's 12-year history, the Idols are singing to backing tracks, without the accompaniment of a live band, and this has disappointed some fans. Additionally, the second date on the tour, scheduled for Albany, was canceled — although that's nothing compared to the 10 shows that were nixed on last year's trek. She was more terrified on stage than Sam, but when she'd get it right..it wasn't that it was brilliant...it was just..very touching. I think MK got something special too. I'm not sure though that she has really decided in her own mind if she is a musical artist. That is not about her age necessarily... plenty of eventual stars formed that self image firmly by her age. Taylor Swift was singing 50 plus events a year at 16 (rodeos etc, leading not long thereafter to being an opening act before she'd become a name of her own). (I think) MK however has that "something to say" that I mystically ramble on about.... there is something about her take on things that she'd like to impress on the world and I feel I message or a "perspective" that helps us notice afresh special things we take for granite.. She seems like the type that would do very well with a stern mentor at a musical college that believed in her and demanded greatness .... and a degree isn't bad and she can grow up and write songs and do some appearances and maybe find a band that wanted a singer or who knows I don't think a record contract is what would do MK best at this point... it might actually snuff out her spirit. An established musician offering her a spot as a back-up singer with a special interest in helping her develop would be a godsend. They might like he around for the company and the positive energy. ..... The information about the tour is really disheartening. I know that many idols in the past really continued to grow while on the tour. They were hanging out with the band, and some very experienced musicians in the band that could teach them things they need to know. I feel particularly sorry for CJ because he would have benefited immensely and with a wife and children he probably won't find the chances to gain that sort of input ever. He's certainly not going to get hired as a back up singer with his pitch issues. I think he does have a strong musical sense of his own .. and a need and something to relate to people but he'd need to be able to write music and I think he needed some encouragement and continual work with arrangements with band members to have "aha" moments about what makes a song etc. I don't think he's gone to college and, it would probably be the best bet for him to get some sort of degree and sing and write on the side and at night and take his chances of another brass ring coming from there. |
