And speaks volumes!! U r awesome. Thanks for doing this song! Quote:You're kidding me, THIS song, plus HALEY REINHART?? Well done Quote:This song stopped making me cry long ago. And she just dragged it right back out of me once again. Quote:For those who haven't heard of Haley until now, check out her cover of House of the Rising Sun. It's hauntingly brilliant. I don't know why she isn't a superstar. She's got one of the best voices I've ever heard. Quote:Awesome! Best sung version Ever! Quote:i love her she is so talented her version is brilliant it's a very smart and powerful interpretation of the song Quote:Am i the only one who got chills ? :O Quote:holy fuck she can sing. Quote:Apr. 21, 2015 RE: CREEP - PMJ studio version with HALEY - john - 04-25-2015 Some thoughts... Haley's involvement with PMJ has been a great thing in lots of ways and her version of Creep is a popular masterpiece. But I caution myself about what it means with respect to Haley's career. It has brought back fans and established new ones for sure, but I see it as Haley jumping up a few stairs on a long staircase rather than her having "made it" or anything of that nature. Haley's PMJ videos benefit tremendously from Scott's consistent dedication to establishing his YT channel and PMJ as a brand. He has 1.1 subscribers and lots of folks that drop in regularly. A typical video posted by Scott will get more than 50K views in the first 24 hours and some get more than double that. And while PMJ's success has been growing steadily, he has had smashing successes in the past that have spiked interest in PMJ but have not radically accelerated the growth of the PMJ brand. September of 2013 was a good month, for example. Perhaps his best. He posted the PMJ cover of We Can't Stop with Robyn singing, and it exploded immediately. It gained four million views within a few weeks and established itself as PMJ's most popular video in terms of views, and it remains so. That month Scott had an interview on the Huffpo site, coverage on NPR, and a PMJ appearance on Good Morning America. The impact of new viewers from that publicity is apparent in spikes in the view rate of older videos (on a few have statistics available), and many, though not all of the releases in subsequent months have strong view numbers. But it settled down, and only a portion of those brought in by the heightened publicity stuck around as subscribers or frequent viewers of the channel. While she has been featured much less since Scott moved to LA, Robin Anderson has been the vocalist most frequently featured on PMJ videos. She has 6 videos with more than 4 million views, including one with more than 12 million. Her version of Gangsta's Paradise was released in March and has more than 1.6 million views. Comments on YT and Scott's FB pages indicate Robyn has lots of loyal fans that want her featured more often. So does this success carry over when Robyn establishes her own YT channel and posts a new vintage version of a song there? Not so much. Five days ago she posted Your Lips are Movin' on her new channel and the view count is less than 15K. It would probably more than 250K if it was a PMJ tune. On her own she gets a boost from her body of work with PMJ, but it is pretty modest. I think Haley gets a bigger boost from her exposure with PMJ. For one, while Robyn is a talented singer, Haley has that "once in a generation voice" as someone said. She regularly produces those WTF moments that most singers can only envy. Haley also benefits greatly from the fact that she sang weekly in front of 18-20 million people on AI. She had lots of fans that lost track of her, and she is winning over some of those that didn't root for her on the show but now are blown away. Nonetheless, in the big picture the PMJ reach is limited. Her exposure through PMJ gives Haley a nice lift in getting her voice into people's ears, but in itself is not a radical game changer IMO. It is still up to her to capitalize on the boost. To me, the most important aspects of her PMJ involvement are the things that have to do with her growth as an artist and performer (and hoperfully as a personal manager). At this point, capitalizing on her PMJ work appears largely dependent on the EP. One of those songs needs airplay and interest if she is going to make a big jump this year. I'm not trying to cast anything negative, since even if the EP doesn't produce a modest "hit" in the world of popular music, she has a number of irons in the fire and her growth will continue as will interest in her music. If that latter scenario plays out, I'll be disappointed but not disheartened at all. RE: CREEP - PMJ studio version with HALEY - Jastal - 04-25-2015 John - great analysis of the Haley & PMJ collaboration and possible impact on her career. I agree that it is just one step forward and how big a step remains to be seen. What I love about Creep is that it serves as such a great audition for future projects in music and acting. It connects to people like few songs do hopefully it will convince the right person to provide the right opportunity for the next step in her career. RE: CREEP - PMJ studio version with HALEY - riley - 04-25-2015 Who would have ever "thunk" that Creep would top the Jazz Charts in digital music or AATB would go viral on Facebook - probably not many - if any. I love that she is collaborating with PMJ on the singing side just like with Irvin, Casey and others. But just collaborating. The girl is doing some new things, trying to take control of her future and set a foundation for success with little financial backing. I can't wait to see what is coming next... ![]() RE: CREEP - PMJ studio version with HALEY - Tusk - 04-25-2015 (04-25-2015, 03:15 PM)Jastal Wrote: What I love about Creep is that it serves as such a great audition for future projects in music and acting. I would not be surprised if the PMJ cover of Creep were picked up by someone for a movie/TV product... it's was an iconic song and bringing back favorite songs, updated, especially one with the type of atmosphere that comes with the performance, I can easily see some director using it to set the mood up for a scene ![]() RE: CREEP - PMJ studio version with HALEY - john - 04-25-2015 Quote:Damn that like button - I keep clicking it but it doesn't keep ticking upward.. Quote:And I'm a Radiohead fan, but Haley Reinhart and the genius of Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox CRUSH this cover. crush. Quote:Pure greatness on a classic. Quote:my my what an emotive voice!! and nice arrangement Quote:Oh fuck, that was good. Quote:I'm in love!!!!!! dmn that voice, it gets me gooseflesh every time, I can't stop listening It is exactly 24 hours since the Creep video passed the 4 million mark. The current view count is 4,077,243. It works out to about 75.5K views in the past 24 hours.
