The young fans "Haley" follows get excited when they see the verified mark. Many respond to her. Some say they checked out her music and liked it. If she would just respond to the latter thanking them they would become huge advocates for her.
With some new zealots, her fandom could grow exponentially.
In 2010, Lady Gaga became Queen of Twitter with 5.7M followers. Today, she has 28M and they launched a social network last month devoted to her (LittleMonsters.com). Justin Bieber has 26.5M followers on Twitter.
Every day I reach out to people on Twitter that they have followed to point them in the direction of Haley's album or videos of her live performances. I also make posts here. I didn't sign a contract or verbally agree to spend time in that arena. I do it because I want to see her be successful. But I'm just one person. And if she's not gong to make an active effort to build her fan base, I'm wondering why I even bother.

She makes an active effort to build her fanbase with her music - That's her way M. Sure, she could use all the world systems like Gaga does and become more popular, but is that why you love her? She doesn't advocate all of the various addictions like the others, and we can certainly respect that, can't we? I think it's a travesty that people are texting and not calling me these days. Humanity is on a major downslide and Haley isn't one to root for it.

I share your frustration so why I didn't comment on your earlier posts, I too want her to be more successful than the snail's pace it has been. But who am I to wonder about her twitter habits?, I've posted my own trepidation about the activity myself. I've been told that my thinking is backwards as far as social media and the path to fame goes. But I think fame and success can be achieved without being a Tweeter.
I've been accused of being a coward because I chose to not post pictures of myself , called something like a "pixelated pixie" hiding behind an avatar. IMO that's just not something I am comfortable in doing, and that makes me a coward? So I should relent just because some one calls me a name? Everybody has a limit to what they want to share about themselves. In this world of people who like to troll and identity theft, we should be cautious about what we put out.
I think Haley has defined the level of exposure she's comfortable with, she hasn't been a 'tweeter' even back when it would have helped her in AI. Perhaps she wants the level of fame that allows her a fraction of personal space/time so doesn't feel the need to tweet every other thought. Maybe that's her 'line'
I agree, engaging a few fans, and especially saying good bye might have been good etiquette, and someone should point that out. But hasn't she been this 'way' all along?
But this is the world of entertainment as it is now. Somewhere along the line it was determined that Tweeting is part of the dance. Especially so because of how young Haley is. She's expected to communicate in the way of her generation. We don't expect it from older performers from other generations.
Don't kid yourself, your 'one person' has enhanced many fans' experience. Do what you can, don't feel the obligation, but make no mistake, your efforts have been impactful and has definitely helped Haley.

at least I can say stupid things here knowing I don't have an image to uphold....well, at least not worrying about if I what I say will be recieved in anything close to "hip" and all that lugage.

Haley has crafted a good album. She has a wonderful, unique voice. She's fortunate in that she has already been on television and has a degree of name recognition.
She needs some momentum though to push her to the top. To get a declared commitment to a fall tour. To get more television time to showcase her own music.
I think a slightly more active (conscientious) social media presence would help. Nothing more demanding of her time than thanking some new fans and letting her established fans know she's thinking of them on occasion. Her popularity could grow exponentially as a result.
The real key to success, of course, is having a hit record. Social media suggests the best bet for that is "Undone," not "Oh My."

Earlier, before and unrelated to your posts, I was actually thinking that Haley should pass the 'social media' aspect of her career on to Angie.
She's a Reinhart, so can be trusted and who knows Haley better than her sis? Angie is probably more adept and comfortable at it than her sister. It would be a good way for Angie to learn about the business through her sister without the pressures of performing and producing. Give her some perspective on whether she too wants to make her living entertaining.
